‘Band of Brothers’ veteran Buck Compton dead at 90
Hope the search button didn't fail me.
Rest in Peace Paratrooper.
"Lynn D. “Buck” Compton, an Army paratrooper whose World War II service was portrayed in the book and HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers” and who later as a prosecutor secured a conviction of Robert F. Kennedy assassin Sirhan Sirhan, died Feb. 26 at his home in Burlington, Wash. He was 90.
He had complications from a heart attack, said his daughter Syndee Compton. Mr. Compton retired in 1990 as a judge on the California Courts of Appeal."

Thanks for posting the article with a very resolute looking warrior in there. The NYT piece carries one later meeting the actor that portrayed him.

The Greatest
Rest in peace, sir. I can't imagine what it was like to be part of the Greatest Generation. Those men truly saved our world.

Tribute to a Fallen Soldier.......
Gone,but not forgotten.
God Bless,Rest in Peace Warrior.....
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn_iz8z2AGw
He was just a simple soldier and his ranks are growing thin
But his presence should remind us; we may need his like again,
For when countries are in conflict, then we find the soldier's part
Is to clean up all the troubles that the politicians start.
If we cannot do him honor while he's here to hear the praise,
Then at least let's give him homage at the ending of his days.......
Perhaps just a simple headline in the paper that might say:
OUR COUNTRY IS IN MOURNING, FOR A SOLDIER DIED TODAY. (author unknown)
The passing of our soldiers often go unnoticed and unsung by most of the world, remembered only by family and friends. Wish it were not so. May he RIP, his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.........
I realize it's a Canadian song, however I believe most appropriate for this occasion...

Rest in Peace, Buck. We can never repay the debt we owe you. We can only try to honor your memory.

I look back at my father and at this great man, too. I give both a tip of the beret.
More men then we know served in WWII, Korea, and RVN. Add Laos in there, too. These are men I admire. Those WWII, Korea, and later the RVN types with a tour, were the men who came by the house and had time for me as a teen.
