For some, the SFAS and SFQC is shorter than for others.

You will likely be back home sooner than you think.

If two (2) four (4) legged animals got you wondering...

"A wife and kids would destroy you...."

Stay safe.

Loud and clear

I hear you loud and clear. Ill work on what needs to be done now and worry about that bridge when I cross it. I have a long way to go, I just like to have a plan. Fortunately or unfortunately, I dont have a wife or kids, just dogs. But, I cant help wondering that the responsibilities you feel for wife, kids, or dogs would hinder or be a tell as to likely success. Any insights? For me, I get a sense of drive, power, and determination from mine.

Listen to your mom.

I'm a guest here, but have been doing the AF thing for 20+ years and have lost track of how many trips and deployments there have been. Through it all a loving, independent and capable wife has held the house together and has made it easy to bug out for months at a time within minutes. Don't know how I'd have done it all these years without her. I could see a strong wife like her being an asset to a QP, if you can find one. Craigslist maybe? YMMV.

The Air Force and Army "Special Forces" are two different animals.

Stay safe.

Without a doubt, thus the disclaimer up front. No disrespect intended.

The list of people I have known that were extremely successful in Special Forces due to the support of their wife and family is huge...

so is the list of people who's careers have been demolished by their wife (wives, as in 2nd, 3rd, 4th...girlfriends...BTW, never let the first group meet the second...especially if they're both being courted at the same time).

Focus on your 25m target...try BCT first...see if you can handle that...AND being away from your "family."

ADVICE:

Way of the Wolf: If you are asking these type of questions now, and seeking advice from people on this site, seems to me your decision making process is not what will be required at SFAS. TR said it best " SFAS and SFQC are shorter for some than others", RECONSIDER your future plans. Regard's, Tom Kelly
