Nice! The one thing I miss about living on the beach is saltwater fishing...

Great picture for a "before" for the SF Gourmet Guerilla CookBook. Now we just need a recipe and after pic. Any takers?

Damn, that's nice! That's either a huge grouper or a small jewfish. (I'm not so 'liberal' that I call 'em 'goliath grouper' now.)

I was just down in SC and killed no pigs. What caliber do you use for grouper?

Out here in California, we call Jewfish "Black Seabass". The record out here is over 500 lbs. That record should stand. they put a moratorium on them in 1978 or 1979. I have to claim partial responsibility for the moratorium. My friends and I caught 3 in a matter of days. Mine was 168 pounds, my buddy's was 365. We hooked them at the same moment. My buddy took another friend of ours out a couple of days later and took a 250 pounder. The moratorium was issued shortly after. I think you can still fish for them in Baja. I think, check first. They call them "Mero" down there. Great eating.

Another big grouper
Went solo offshore last weekend couldn't find anybody to go so went alone.
good day limited on Black seabass, grouper and managed 4 nice Mahi
beautiful day on the big blue.
here is a pick of my biggest grouper this trip
Its called a scamp groupr not a jewfish. The state record on this fish is 26lbs , my fish weighed 23lbs , getting close.
