Just a few thoughts...
In IET land, there should be a focus that is cursed by a single point of failure - the constant reinforcement that your failure to stay engaged will terminate with a Chinaman emptying his Type-95 into your chest. Sure music is great - but it results in a culture of troops that results in troops sticking the earbud to their music player under their headset when they should be switched on to the mission at hand.
"...the kids"
Who are these kids we are speaking of? These "kids" are Americas FIGHTING men and women that should be focusing on PT with the goal of making sure that when you hit someone - they stay hit.
It's isn't building a beach body - or looking good at the Crossfit gym. Its building the power and stamina needed to move dismounted through the mountains until someone cant breath anymore - then the slow tired people get shot while they are bust catching their breath.
There are ways to train smarter. Training smarter changes lives. Suggesting that the brighter future for America lays within the hope that gangster overflowing with the same language that will get you relieved for cause - well - it makes me shudder.
