Lucky you and lucky Pearl!!! Glad you used a rescue, I help with a local rescue and it is very rewarding. We have fostered over 35 dogs and have adopted four...

They looked for a while to find a good rescue and they are so excited! I can't wait to meet her!
Thanks all! One more, she has an ottoman with her blanket set up by the front window so she can people and squirrel watch.

The downside is when you are trying to adopt breed-specific the map is large and selection limited. I've been trying to rescue an Akita since we lost ours in July. Why Akitas? They are a tough breed to deal with for most people and the only breed I've had for going on 50 years. They are often rescued and returned multiple times.

Sorry about your dog. We had Shepherds. Then the Boxer in my avatar (plus a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) . Last year we rescued a Cur that had been probably abused and then abandond. What a great dog. Per a DNA test that my wife bought as a Christmas present... part Redbone and Bluetick Coonhound, Pit, Catahoula, Shepherd and Boxer and who knows what else. Wow. Happy to be alive, comfortable and well fed and to have a pack. Rescues are awesome dogs.

Yep, as a kid a had a couple of rescued stray pups. One, a young female slept on my bed actually wrapped around my head at night. We couldn't keep her but had a friend who had lots of land and rescued all kinds of animals. Another was found by our neighbor who was a garbageman and found him at the dump. He lived a long life, long after I left for the Army, and was famous around town. He ran free and probably fathered half on the pups in town. Every afternoon at about 3pm he'd show up at the door of my mom's office and wait to go home with her.

When its really cold
The cold weather has been brutal the past two weeks so I decided to kick up the heat in my shop and get some projects completed. These are headed out to my cousins grandchildren. My grandkids have already been taken care of. The big clock will not take long to finish, no screws or nails just good tight joints and glue.
