2nd BN had its celebration earlier in the spring up at Camp McCain. The whole BN was present, as were quite a few FOG's, and our unit leadership did it right...

I just found this page stating the 20th SF(a) was started in 1961.

http://www.groups.sfahq.com/20th/history.htm

That would put the 50th BD in 2011???

I am trying to contact Col Brian C. , President of the 20th SF Association.

According to the CMH's Lineage and Honors - Infantry, they were reconstituted in 1960 in the RA - withdrawn from RA and allotted to USAR/NG in 1961.

I have done a lot of reading and could not find that link to the 1960 ref. The 20th Inf Reg continued on past 1960 in the regimental system. Can you give me a link so I can correct my data.......Please

Don't have a link - I have the pages I copied from the Lineage and Honors back when I was at Fort Benning circa '83-'88.

All that I have been able to find is the 20th was chartered in 1961. I do not understand the reason for having a 50th anniversary celebration two years early. I do remember something of the guard unit that was rolled over to the 20th being in existance during the Korean War time period, maybe this has something to do with why they are holding the celebration this year. Somebody out there knows why 2009 was chosen but I am not the one. I was just passing on some info. Sorry for the confusion.
