Congratulations SFC Petry

Sacrifice still exists everywhere, and everywhere the elect of each generation suffers for the salvation of the rest.

Henri Frédéric Amiel

Thank you.

He who does something at the head of one Regiment, will eclipse him who does nothing at the head of a hundred. - Abraham Lincoln

This was really a great hand shake and a great picture. Ten times better than a salute.

I had the privilege and honor to shake the hand of this brave man today… I was waiting in the local sew shop near Join Base Lewis-McChord to get my BDUs sewn up for our trip to Thailand, and in walks SFC Petry. He was dressed in blues with out his top. That’s when I recognized his medal around his neck. I was confused for a second then star-struck when I realized who it was. I stood up and asked if I could shake a hero’s hand. He reached out with his bionic hand of awesomeness and gently squeezed as the electric motors manipulate his grip around my hand. He obviously had a shindig he was going to and seemed in a hurry so I wasn’t going to ask for a picture with the man. I thanked him for his bravery and he left with whatever he had to pick up. This was an experience I thought I would share.

Even though I didn't know him well, I'm honored to have met and been in the same company as this man. One of if not the most humble of my brothers I've ever met. I will without a doubt tell my children about him and men like him
