1962 - 1963

GEN Herb Powell, the GEN at the end of the film, retired in 1963 as CDR CONARC (Continental Army Command which became FORSCOM in 1973).

BG Yarborough (speaking before GEN Powell) was a COL in 1961 and was CDR US Army Special Warfare Center 1961-1965.

The 7th SFGA was authorized their berets with red flash as seen in the film after October 1961.

My three favorite Saturday morning television programs were 'The Big Picture', 'The Twentieth Century', and 'Victory At Sea'.

The old Bergen mountain ruck - there were two types of mountain rucks used when I first got to Group and the Bergen was one of them.

The other was a goat skin cinched at the top and lashed to a tree branch A-frame, right?

I think I just learned more about the SF mission in that little film than I did in Robin Sage!

That was awesome!

One of the best parts was encouraging the residents to pick sides! That really added huge realism in my eyes!

Quick someone email this to Alex Jones!

I give you the Jeffersonvile Quartermaster Depot (JQD) Model 88B. I like it more than the cheep nylon w/alu frame we had in Nam. the rivets would pop and the nylon frayed under minimum duress..

I totally agree! I traded my POS aluminum frame small bag nylon pack for one of these as soon as I could. It was so much more comfy on a long trek and did a better job containing all my kit.
