Arizona Game Commission will present expanded Methods of Take rules including the use of Dogs to take (dispatch) Small Game and Predatory animals. I personally have numerous issues with this, among them are some pissed off bobcat or coyote bumping into some family on a day hike. Or worse, damaged pelts! At least they aren't extending it to Lion or Bear (pursuit only). I've seen wounded bear clear a section of forest, no s...

I respect others thoughts on the subject, but keep it based in reality. And I'm aware of the usefulness of certain population reduction benefits

Here in Missouri, we have experienced an explosion in feral hog numbers. The guys use catch dogs on the hogs. Honestly, without dogs, there is no way we could ever get the numbers of hogs down.

Ever since I can remember, guys here have used hounds to hunt coyotes. One thing to keep in mind is that there are few predators that can keep the numbers of coyotes, hogs, wolves, etc down. Also, there are just not that many guys who go hunt those animals with just a rifle (and those that do don't thin the herd a lot). Hunting dogs can help fix a bunch of problems.

Should be able to use those hunting dogs on feral cats.

And feral cats includes Ms Mary's, who she feeds but lets run free and breed.

Amen. Have a neighbor hereabouts who likes to do that. In town, the bride of many moons sits on the front-porch with the airsoft G18.

I agree with your guys comments, especially the Feral Cats (ie. Special management circumstances).

The exception is the person running the dogs should do their own killing, not the dogs.

Have to admit I can't be completely objective on this one, Predator hunting alone is one of my favorite activities. Also wouldn't doubt all the activity at the border has made it almost impossible to hunt there by traditional ways. Haven't been there since 06, but it was bad then. Spent my time tracking trekker's and calling them in instead of hunting.

In late September I was west of Casper Wyoming about 25 miles and watched a coyote test out a group of mule deer does and see if it could get the fawn. This was a large fawn but still the coyote spent about five minutes circling the does testing the situation out. The does and fawn were very afraid of he coyote. I am not a fan of hound hunters having mostly hunted solitary all my life but for out of control populations it may be necessary.

if its that bad the dogs have to kill the prey too for the hunter instead of their normal purpose...

I have owned and hunted with hounds and can say that what we hunt out here with hounds I dont want my dogs trying to kill. Good way to lose some good dog.
