Election Day a Holiday
Obama says federal government should make Election Day a national holiday and that states' constitutional rights 'make it deliberately difficult to vote'
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...cult-vote.html
Personally I think it is far too easy now for one to vote. Were it up to him he would take away the individual states rights in regards to how they handle elections. Several years ago I called him a d***head on this board and I was chastised by one of the moderators. I will not call him a d***head now even though I still feel he is because I do not wish to seem disrespectful.

Early voting
I thought that was what early voting was for.
Even open one or two Saturdays around here.

I haven't voted at a polling place in years. I vote by mail-in ballot, which I take to a Dropbox in the local library at my convenience.
The last thing we need is another paid holiday for government employees.

He wants the US to close everything down, have people dip their finger in ink to show you voted and have a sticker put on your national ID. Hummmm then you get fined for not voting.
Been all over the world and seen this in those democracy's that he is alluding to.
I like to call it mandatory democracy. Makes it easier to fix elections from what I have seen in those countries.
If they are too lazy to vote than they get what they get. The federal government keeps extending their reach and trying to infringe on the states and the American people.

I think you are the one who is a d***head. Voting should be as easy as possible.

Then why would you not be in favor of a national holiday in order to make voting more easy. Making it easier invites corruption. Its been made easier enough for me, or am I not entitled to my opinion on this?

I would like to see some requirements other than 18 and a warm body (the last is optional in Chicago).
Maybe be a Tax paying citizen who is not a government employee so there's no conflict of interest.

So you would advocate that persons serving not be allowed to vote? Sounding like you are a democrat or from a 3rd world country.
Why would a government employee not be allowed to vote?

I personally am ok with an election day holiday. Why the hell not? The D voting base gets a day off with pay anyway (welfare) so why not everybody??

Most of the countries that do it have their elections on Sunday. They close down the sale of spirits 2 or 3 days prior. Got to have the people sober

That was uncalled for.
How about we make April 15th Election Day?

MOO, Americans voting while angry is what got us where we are now. If there's to be an election day holiday, I'd prefer the date to be one that inspires reflection rather than retaliation.

In your NY liberal rush to beat the party drum, you left off the critical part about ensuring legality and reducing voting fraud...unless that was a deliberate omission.
