Combat sports are generally divided into weight classes.
It's doubtful that the purpose is to keep the smaller, weaker, competitors (with less skeletal muscle) from dominating the larger, stronger competitors.
Hmmm...
http://www.unz.com/gnxp/men-are-stro...en-on-average/
http://jap.physiology.org/content/89/1/81.figures-only
From the second link,
Total skeletal muscle:
Females age 18-29: 21.8 +- 4.6 kg
Females age 30-39: 21.6 +- 3.7 kg
Males... age 18-29: 33.7 +- 5.8 kg
Males... age 30-39: 34.0 +- 4.7 kg
On average, 56% more skeletal muscle for males vs females age 18-40.
It's not even close.

When training for combat, it should be as realistic as possible...especially the H2H. There should be no difference in gender when it comes to physical combat or its training applications.
If they want to fight...then fight!

That's all well and nice, but our socialist government and the military "leaders" will in fact lower the "combat" standards until every 115 lbs female can pass Ranger school, Special Forces and 1st SFOD-D.
And we will have trannies in each and every unit on display for dear leader to see.

Pictures are worth a thousand words. If that is true, then I would be willing to bet, if a continual stream of very graphic, up-close and personal combat wounds and fatalities in general, and especially those of females, were present to the public, that mindset might just change.

Not going to happen.
I worked intensive care once with fresh casualties less than 24 hours post IED blast and so on. When it came to documenting severely injured (i.e. bilateral amputees and worse) females in rehab, the segment got edited out or face and body are shown separately.

Not long ago, While visiting FTCKY, I had the opportunity to view an album of explicit photographic documentation of combat wounds. Some of the images were so graphic, it disturbed me that I was able to continue turning the page to the next image, a few are still in my head.
I think if something like that album were available on the net to Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Public, their daughters would consider other options.
On a different note, but related, I often wonder if there is a correlation between the rate of suicides and those that have survived life altering physical combat wounds, due the the medical expertise and medavac capabilities, that in prior wars was not available.
