Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter: Eine andere Zeit
Really interesting. West Point German teacher showed this to the class. This shows a different aspect of WWII as a three part movie. This mini-series can be viewed on YouTube.

Ich habe auch ein Interesse am 2. Weltkrieg. Der Grossvater meiner Frau war im Krieg. Er war 39 Jahre alt, als er eingezogen wurde. Er war in einem amerikanischen Gefangenenlager. He said "the Americans treated him well"
I was recently given the family heirlooms that I so long have asked for since I met the man 22 years ago. I wish I had more time to talk with him...God rest his soul.
Due to privacy,I will only post pics of the outside of a couple of items, but wow! after I started opening up these pass books and papers, I could only imagine what it was like there.

The military and national ID cards are really interesting - I'd love to be able to read through them. Nice family memento.

I can believe that.
I live a short distance from San Bernardino, CA where the former Camp Ono was. Anyway, right after the Axis capitulation in North Africa it was used as a POW detention center to house hundreds of Italians. The prisoners were actually given weekend passes to go see movies, eat ice cream, etc. Our prisoners weren't treated anywhere near as well.

I am also listing the ducumentary which can still be found. I actually just bought the DVD on Amazon.de. It is set become a TV series and is actually becoming one of the most talked about subjects in quite some time.
