Looks like Labor has it.

I read that the nuclear-free issue was a big issue this time. Is that true?

Yeah it was one of the big issues, but this election was more about mud slinging than policy.

Labour only have one more seat than National...a lot will depend on if NZ First decided to lend their support to National or not.

Nothing stops teen trying to vote

One voter was so determined to do his democratic duty in northern Hawke's Bay he wasn't going to let a police chase or crashing his allegedly stolen car stop him from voting.

Police allegedly clocked the 18-year-old man travelling at 85kmh in a 50kmh zone in Wairoa at 12.30pm on Saturday.

Constable Winiata Hamlin said he turned on his lights and the man took off towards town in a Subaru WRX.

The chase reached speeds of 140kmh and Mr Hamlin pulled out of the chase, turning off his lights and slowing to 50kmh when they entered the built-up area of town.

It didn't make much difference to the Subaru driver who crashed into two parked cars and took out a fence when he lost control turning into a street.

He continued on in the battered car, eventually parking in the Wairoa District Council car park where he walked across the road and cast his vote at a polling booth, then walked home.

East Coast returning officer Claire Radomske said nobody would be ever turned away from voting.

"Anybody can vote, as long as they can signal their intentions."

As far as criminals go, any prisoner sentenced to less than three years can vote in the electorate they last resided.

The 18-year-old will appear in the Wairoa District Court today, charged with driving offences, receiving stolen goods and the theft of petrol.

With you on the Nuclear issue Huey. Needs to at the least be reviewed.

Tried to follow things as best i could from over here and I still don't know who I would have voted for, it seemed to be who could make the other look worse would do better. Not the best basis for a General Election.
