Fairly steep Department of Defense cuts announced

"Fairly steep Department of Defense cuts announced"

Well, it's official - sort of.

http://hotair.com/archives/2015/09/3...uts-announced/

"...The changes to the retirement system will only affect new recruits who enlist after these changes go into effect. (Current members will be grandfathered into the old plan.) The Thrift Savings Plan – already available – will provide government matching funds to savings the troops put away toward retirement. In some ways this will be an improvement for service members who don’t stay in for a full twenty years, currently the threshold for getting any sort of serious retirement benefits. But they can also expect less generous terms if they do the full stretch...."

The full impact of the change to retirement will not be felt for around 15 years. Boy did they kick that can down the road for some extra change in the pocket.

People will just call for the draft to be brought back but the retards don't understand that it's the 6 to 12/14 year folks who will be getting out to further a civilian career not a 2 or 4 year draftee.

If people will be able to get out after 4 or 5 years with vested government contributions to a 401k, in addition to all the ed benefits that they got while in and a GI bill. That's a great deal for them.

Inconvenience to the American public, or competitive threat/institutional jealousy to Congress?

It hasn't gone Unnoticed here in the past that the U.S. Military is the most respected institution in America, with Congress being pretty much dead last.

If you can't compete, cheat(by crippling the competition).

Defense is 2.7% of GDP. Entitlement programs are about five times that. While my brothers and sisters suffer the death of a thousand cuts, Wally Welfare gets his third Obama phone.

The nature of the word "service-member" is to serve...
...damn military folks need to learn the meaning of the words service and sacrifice.

All they do on deployments is watch bootleg movies and collect tax free paychecks. Now its time to pay the fiddler!!!!

Damn entitlement minded military folks..............................
