George Soros Tells Progressive Donors Obama Might Not Be The Best Investment

First Posted: 11-17-10 04:10 PM | Updated: 11-17-10 04:34 PM
WASHINGTON--At a private meeting on Tuesday afternoon, George Soros, a longtime supporter of progressive causes, voiced blunt criticism of the Obama administration, going so far as to suggest that Democratic donors direct their support somewhere other than the president.

The Hungarian-American financier was speaking to a small side gathering of donors who had convened in Washington D.C. for the annual gathering of the Democracy Alliance -- a formal community of well-funded, progressive-minded individuals and activists.

According to multiple sources with knowledge of his remarks, Soros told those in attendance that he is "used to fighting losing battles but doesn't like to lose without fighting."

"We have just lost this election, we need to draw a line," he said, according to several Democratic sources. "And if this president can't do what we need, it is time to start looking somewhere else."

Michael Vachon, an adviser to Soros, did not dispute the comment, though he stressed that there was no transcript of a private gathering to check. Vachon also clarified that the longtime progressive giver was not referring to a primary challenge to the president.

"Mr. Soros fully supports the president as the leader of the Democratic Party," said Vachon. "He was not suggesting that we seek another candidate for 2012. His comments were made in a private, informal conversation that was about the need for progressives to be more forceful in promoting their agenda. He was stressing the importance of being heard by elected officials."

Dissatisfaction with the Obama administration was not limited to Soros's private gathering with donors. On Wednesday morning, Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina received several tough questions during his address to the Democracy Alliance. According to a source in the room, he was pressed multiple times as to why the administration has declined to be more combative with Republicans, both in communication and legislative strategy. Another source in the room said the exchange was not entirely contentious as people were simply expressing frustration about the fact that "we just came out of an election where the right wing and the Republicans distorted what was going on."

Requests for comment from the White House were not returned....

Beck was on this subject yesterday emphasizing (3) quotes of Soros

Quote:
"used to fighting losing battles but doesn't like to lose without fighting."
Quote:
We have just lost this election, we need to draw a line
Quote:
And if this president can't do what we need, it is time to start looking somewhere else.
and he emphasized a laundry list of radical attendees like Trumpka, Van Jones and several marxist/socialist/nationalist groups.

Beck suggests Soros and his minions maybe leaning or pushing towards a more physical/aggressive approach to achieve their agenda.

I can see where Beck could suspect that and he maybe correct, but one could also draw the conclusion from Soros merely stating the obvious.....Come January 2011 the President will be limited in what he can do and we need to find other avenues to press our agenda, we cannot have another election cycle like the midterms and we need to pressure the Republicans like the Tea Party pressured us.

My feeling is it is a big game. All the zillions that is being spent on elections and agendas ludicrous, it is more that most nations GDP. It could help our unemployment situation and the lagging economy......Which reminds me of something someone once said to me.....something about wasting my time causing trouble, and how much more I could accomplish putting my efforts into constructive things..

Soros is a danger to this country. He tries to manipulate our governmental system through donations to radical left wing organizations, lawyers who will take the most ludicrous of cases to court and politicians who will take his money and push his agenda. I think what makes his agenda so clear is his background.
Quote:
Family
Soros was born in Budapest, Kingdom of Hungary, the son of the Esperantist writer Tivadar Soros. Tivadar (also known as Teodoro) was a Hungarian Jew, who was a prisoner of war during and after World War I and eventually escaped from Russia to rejoin his family in Budapest.[8][9]

The family changed its name from Schwartz to Soros in 1936, in response to growing anti-semitism with the rise of fascism. Tivadar liked the new name because it is a palindrome and has a meaning. Although the specific meaning is left unstated in Kaufman's biography, in Hungarian, soros means next in line, or designated successor; and, in Esperanto, it means "will soar".[10] Tivadar taught George to speak Esperanto from birth. George Soros later said that he grew up in a Jewish home and that his parents were cautious with their religious roots.[11]

Married and divorced twice, Soros has three children with Annaliese Witschak (Robert, Andrea, Jonathan) and two with Susan Weber Soros (Alexander and Gregory). His elder brother, Paul Soros, also a private investor and philanthropist, is an engineer, who headed Soros Associates and established the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for Young Americans.[12][13] George Soros' nephew Peter Soros, a son of Paul Soros, is married to the former Flora Fraser — a daughter of Lady Antonia Fraser and the late Sir Hugh Fraser and a stepdaughter of the late 2005 Nobel Laureate Harold Pinter.[14]

His son Alexander Soros is also gaining prominence for his donations to social and political causes. Alexander led the list of student political donors in the 2010 election cycle.[15]

Early life
Soros was thirteen years old in March 1944 when Nazi Germany occupied Hungary.[16] Soros worked for the Jewish Council,[8] which had been established during the Nazi occupation of Hungary to forcibly carry out Nazi and Hungarian government anti-Jewish measures.[17][18] Soros later described this time to writer Michael Lewis:

The Jewish Council asked the little kids to hand out the deportation notices. I was told to go to the Jewish Council. And there I was given these small slips of paper...It said report to the rabbi seminary at 9 a.m....And I was given this list of names. I took this piece of paper to my father. He instantly recognized it. This was a list of Hungarian Jewish lawyers. He said, "You deliver the slips of paper and tell the people that if they report they will be deported."[19]

In 1944, at age 14, Soros lived with and posed as the godson of an employee of the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture. On one occasion, the official was ordered to inventory the remaining contents of the estate of a wealthy Jewish family that had fled the country.[20] Rather than leave the young George alone in the city, the official brought him along. The following year, Soros survived the Battle of Budapest, in which Soviet and German forces fought house-to-house through the city.

Soros immigrated to England in 1947 and, as an impoverished student, lived with his uncle, an Orthodox Jew. His uncle paid his living expenses while he attended the London School of Economics, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy in 1952.[21] While a student of the philosopher Karl Popper, Soros worked as a railway porter and as a waiter. A University tutor requested aid for Soros, and he received £40 from a Religious Society of Friends (Quaker) charity.[22] He eventually secured an entry-level position with London merchant bank Singer & Friedlander. He has a cousin from that family era, Caron Enlander (née Weiss) in New York.
This was taken from Wiki but I believe is accurate. He was from a Jewish family that hid their faith and collaborated with the Nazis. He has made his fortune by destroying banks and insider trading. The man has no conscience.

George Soros was born on August 12, 1930 in Budapest, Hungary. His father, Teodoro Schwartz, was a successful attorney and an Orthodox Jew who, in 1936, changed the family surname from Schwartz to Soros in order to enable his family to conceal its Jewish identity and thus to survive the Nazi Holocaust. When the Nazis occupied Budapest in 1944, Soros' father decided to split up his family, so as to minimize the chance that all its members would be killed together. He purchased forged papers for each of them, and then bribed a government official to claim George as his Christian godson and to let the boy live with him. "While hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews were being transported to death camps," reports the Sweetness and Light website, "George Soros accompanied his phony godfather on his appointed rounds, confiscating property from the Jews." (Many years later -- in December 1998 -- a CBS interviewer would ask Soros whether he had ever felt any guilt about those circumstances. Soros replied: "[T]here was no sense that I shouldn't be there, because that was–well, actually, in a funny way, it's just like in markets -- that if I weren't there -- of course, I wasn't doing it, but somebody else would -- would -- would be taking it away anyhow. And it was the -- whether I was there or not, I was only a spectator, the property was being taken away. So the -- I had no role in taking away that property. So I had no sense of guilt.")

On the topic of Soros, the following article was interesting...

Quote:
The Jewish People vs George Soros

By Daniel Greenfield
November 13, 2010

I spent yesterday evening in the company of a man whose grandfather spent much of the Holocaust dressed in a Nazi uniform. The difference between him and George Soros, is that he used that uniform as a disguise in order to find Jewish refugees and lead them to shelter. And that difference is a profound one. It is the difference between a perpetrator and a rescuer. Between a collaborator and a hero.

Soros did not wear a Nazi uniform, but he might as well have, because he aided in the persecution of the Jews of Europe, without compassion, without guilt and without regret. Various excuses have been made for his actions, and none of them hold the least bit of water.

Yes Soros was only a teenager at the time. So was my father, who nevertheless escaped to join the partisans, rather than accompanying a Nazi officer in his search for Jewish property he could loot. He had no choice? He certainly had a choice. Even in the worst of times, people still can and do make moral choices. And the choice for everyone, for Jews, Germans, Ukrainians, Poles, Frenchmen and so on down the line-- was to collaborate with evil, or to do the right thing.

George Soros made the wrong choice then. As he has made the wrong choice over and over again. And he has never regretted any of them. And the one thing that clearly emerges from that, is that he has no understanding that evil is wrong. That participating in the persecution and murder of Jews is wrong. He didn't know it back then, while the Holocaust was going on. He doesn't know it today, when he helps set up and fund organizations like J Street, whose sole purpose is to help the Muslim terrorists who are murdering Jews today.

The liberal media which is busy defending Soros as a victim of the Holocaust and a survivor should find the bare decency to remain silent for once. To call Soros a Holocaust survivor is an obscenity. Soros was not victimized by the Holocaust. He was never targeted by it. He was on the other side of the line. The side that was pulling the trigger, running the gas chambers and sorting the gold teeth. Soros was not a victim, he was a perpetrator. Yes, he was only a teenager, but we do jail teenagers as accomplices to crimes much milder than that of collaborating in genocide.

Liberal using charges of Anti-Semitism to silence critics of Soros is one of the most profoundly cynical exercises imaginable, by people who routinely mock the idea that their bias again Israel is in any way motivated by Anti-Semitism. It is all the more cynical, because Soros has described himself as growing up in a "Jewish, Anti-Semitic home" and suggested that Jewish behavior causes Anti-Semitism. Defending criticism of a billionaire Anti-Semite as Anti-Semitism is thoroughly surreal. It's an inversion of the meaning of the word that punches a hole through reason and all the way over into the other side.

Soros has funded organizations that actively promoted Anti-Semitic smears against Jews. MoveOn's bulletins have linked to sites like CounterPunch, a site which actually published an article in defense of blood libels. One bulletin linked to pieces which accused Jews of dual loyalty, claimed that a small group of Jewish elites monopolize foreign policy and began with a "special feature" from former Klansman, Senator Byrd. All this is from an organization funded by George Soros. A man so reviled within the Jewish community that his funding for J Street had to be kept secret for fear of a backlash against the entire group.

The media's implication that criticism of Soros is an attack on Jews as a whole is mind-bogglingly false. When even an organization aimed at liberal Jews actually has to hide its Soros funding, it is safe to say that Herr Soros is not representative of the Jewish community. After a failed attempt to scam money out of a Jewish charity in his youth, Soros has avoided Jewish organizations and Jewish causes. J Street is one of those exceptions, only because it is an Anti-Jewish organizations masquerading as a Jewish organization.

Soros has said that he doesn't want to be part of any Jewish national existence, and that the solution to Anti-Semitism is for Jews to "give up on the tribalness". His narrative has always been to blame Anti-Semitism on Jews and on Israel. And frankly that is the essence of what Anti-Semitism is. Blame the victim. And there's every reason for Soros to do that. because he helps the perpetrators. And that seems to have been a lifelong hobby with him.

Soros' father identified with Germans, more than with Jews. Like some of that type, he wanted to be more German, than the Germans. After Nazi Germany fell, George seemed to hold a special animus for the countries that had defeated the Third Reich. His political and economic primarily war targeted America, Europe and Russia. The countries and societies that had destroyed Hitler's dream of world conquest. Whether that is deliberate or not, is not a question I can answer. But if Soros had strongly resented the Allied forces that shut down National Socialism, then his likely course of behavior would be the same one that he has followed. To find weak spots in the system, exploit them to make money and then use that money to bring those societies and countries down.

Over the years Soros has made it very clear that he doesn't like Jews, and doesn't want to be associated with them. This wasn't an aberration that developed during the Holocaust, but runs in his family. His father changed his last name from Schwartz to Soros. His ex-wife has stated that Soros' mother disliked her, because she was "openly Jewish". In his biography, Soros agreed that his ex-wife's Jewishness was the problem. He even referred to his own mother as a "Jewish Anti-Semite". Indeed Soros' mother disliked Jews so much, she ended up converting.

George Soros has not converted, but he considers himself an atheist and like the rest of his family, is hostile to Jews. He has mentioned an "antipathy" to Jewish organizations, one which he dates back to his time delivering deportation orders to Jewish lawyers. At one point he describes his Jewishness as a "secret shame" that required psychoanalysis. While Soros has said that he has no guilt over his Nazi collaboration, he apparently did feel guilt for whatever Jewishness he still felt he had. That is not the attitude of a moral man, but of a man who enjoyed being a Nazi, but hated being Jewish. With that kind of attitude, it's no wonder that Soros acts the way he does.

But having excluded himself from the Jewish community and having waged war against the places and countries where Jews are secure-- having even funded Anti-Semitic organizations, he has absolutely no right to try and hide from criticism over his political activities by using his front groups to denounce critics as Anti-Semitic. Certainly not by claiming to be a Holocaust survivor, when he was actually a collaborator. His front groups have produced and circulated materials that accused American Jews of secret conspiracies, that certainly meet the same test that his front groups are now using to argue that Beck is engaging in Anti-Semitism.

But Soros is never held to the standards of the people he wages war on. Soros destroys the savings of British pensioners, while using the money to fund left wing groups which claim to care about the plight of the poor. Now left wing groups which promote Anti-Semitism are accusing Soros critics of being Anti-Semitic. To them it's just a word. Another weapon they can use to promote their agenda. To us however it's not just a word. It's a reality. It's a reality that Jews have been living with for a very long time now.

For thousands of years, the Jewish people have survived persecution, outlived genocide, and every form of oppression under the sun. And during all that time, there have been Jewish survivors and heroes, and collaborators as well. The upcoming holiday of Chanukah is the story of Jews who refused to collaborate. On the other hand, the story of Soros is the story of those who brought pigs on altars. Who hated their Jewishness and eagerly sought to join with the oppressors. Soros is only one of that number. But it is not the collaborators or the traitors who continue on. They die and turn to dust. Their malice may be great and the harm they cause terrible, but like all mortals, they still perish and pass away. But the Nation of Israel, like the lights of the Menorah, go on.

Great article T-Rock. It explained it a lot better than I was trying to.

That is true. Most of them you really don't hear anything about though, from the right or the left side of the MSM. Most of the rich donors are content to stay in the shadows. Soros on the other hand, makes no bones about what he wants to see come to pass and the fact that he is willing to put his vast amounts of money behind an effort to make it happen.

5 Lesser Known But Equally Insidious Recipients of George Soros’ Money

By Chris Queen
November 21, 2010

Much has been said lately about George Soros. Glenn Beck has made Soros a near constant topic of conversation on his radio program, and Beck did a multi-part exposéof Soros on his television show just this past week. With his recent injection of cash into Media Matters for America, Soros managed to keep himself in the headlines.

It’s worth digging in and learning more about George Soros. After all, he’s the man whose father changed the family surname from Schwartz to Soros to hide their Jewish heritage and thus avoid the Nazis. Soros bankrolled Czechoslovakia’s “Velvet Revolution” and claims to have aided in regime change in Georgia, Croatia, and Yugoslavia. He engineered the financial speculation that, in 1992, “broke the Bank of England,” earning a cool billion dollars for himself in the process. And he’s the man who is worth an approximate $13 billion and uses staggering amounts of that money on radical Leftist causes and organizations. His story has all the makings of a terrific movie (at the very least he’d be a great James Bond villain), if it weren’t for the fact that his latest antics are happening right here in the United States.
We know Soros as the sugar daddy behind such organizations as the Center for American Progress, Media Matters, the late Air America Radio, Think Progress, People for the American Way, and Sojourners. We know him as the architect of the “Shadow Democratic Party,” the sort of man-behind-the-curtain organization of the Democrats today and responsible in many ways for Barack Obama’s election. Soros’ Open Society Institute is the gateway to funding for these and many other Leftist organizations.

While there are plenty of groups and funds who are recipients of Soros’ money that are commonly known, there are even more that are not talked about often, but are equally insidious. Many of these groups sound benign on the surface, and they hide their radical agendas behind a patina of respectability. The following is a list of five organizations who are lesser known as recipients of George Soros’ funding. You may have heard of some of these groups (I know you’ll have heard of at least one), and you may be surprised at the vast reach of Soros’ financial influence.

1. The YWCA

On the surface, the YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association) seems like an odd organization to be a beneficiary of George Soros. After all, the YWCA conjures up images of a totally innocuous sister organization to the YMCA, sponsoring recreational opportunities and summer camps for kids and athletic facilities for adults. However, the YWCA has taken on a dangerous femisogynistic agenda for nearly a hundred years. As Kimberly Schuld put it:

For many of us, the YWCA represents a health club or the sponsor of a girl’s basketball team. The YWCA is a national and international network of more than 300 affiliates, and boasts that it is the nation’s largest provider of battered women’s facilities and developed the first child care programs in the United States. But the YWCA is up to much more than caring after the needs of battered women and lonely children.

A good look at the YWCA reveals a much more political Leftist organization, much of which is paid for with your tax dollars. Although it was socially progressive from the beginning, the YWCA was not exactly the radical force it is today.

So, how did this organization become Soros-worthy? It all started, as many things did, during the Progressive era in the early 20th century. Not long after its incorporation in 1907, the YWCA began to carry the mantle of the feminist agenda and the radicalism that often went along with it, advocating minimum wage laws and promoting the concept of what we now call sex education.( At that time, sex education meant little more than teaching young people about the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases.)

As the century wore on, the YWCA picked up increasingly radical agendas, joining in the push for more graphic sex education and taxpayer-funded abortion on demand and against abstinence education and school choice measures. The YWCA teamed up with other radical feminist organizations like the National Organization for Women and Martha Burk’s infamous National Council of Women’s Organizations to promote Leftist policies and “Fight the Right.” After 9/11, the YWCA called for “tolerance” toward radical Islam and supported a number of anti-war and bald-faced anti-Israel causes. It’s clear how far leftward the YWCA leans these days and how they could be Soros-approved.

2. The Ploughshares Fund

Another group benefiting from George Soros’ considerable financial backing is the Ploughshares Fund. Founded in 1981, the Ploughshares Fund is committed, at least on the surface, to “investing in security and peace worldwide.” Presumably, the fund derives its name from the Biblical reference in Micah 4:3, which reads (in the New International Version):

He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

Ploughshares Fund’s website boasts:

We are the largest grantmaking foundation in the U.S. whose exclusive mission is peace and security funding. In past the 29 years, we have given over $60 million to the individuals and organizations whose efforts have the greatest impact.
Through our grants and advocacy we have:
• Convened the first-ever U.S.-Russian joint threat assessment of Iranian nuclear and ballistic missile potential. Our analysis informed the decision by the Obama Administration to cancel plans for missile defenses in Europe that did not work and did not address real threats.
• Saved a billion dollars from the 2009 economic stimulus package by supporting a coalition of groups that lobbied against including nuclear weapons in the bill.
• Jumpstarted U.S.-Russia nuclear negotiations by convening leaders and experts to generate concrete proposals for an improved partnership.
• Demonstrated definitively that a nuclear test ban could be verified, clearing the way for ratification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty.
• Supported successful advocacy to prevent the development of a new generation of nuclear weapons.
• Established innovative diplomacy with at-risk states to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons.
• Ensured the success of international treaties to outlaw chemical weapons and landmines.

Yet the organization, which at one time counted actor-film producer Michael Douglas among its board members is actually committed to defunding much of the United States military and thwarting American foreign policy, as shown its project, the Peace and Security Funders Group. The Ploughshares Fund opposes any efforts on the part of the United States to build a missile defense system. Additionally, its founder, Naila Bolus, is co-founder of the Women Legislators’ Lobby, a group committed to “persuad[ing] Congress to redirect excessive military spending toward unmet human and environmental needs.” It’s not hard to see why George Soros would be willing to throw large sums of money at an organization like this one.

3. Mercy Corps

Mercy Corps is another one of those organizations with a pleasant-sounding name and an otherwise innocent purpose that masks a nefarious anti-Israel stance. It also happens to be another beneficiary of George Soros’ Open Society Institute.

Founded in 1981 by Dan O’Neill, Mercy Corps has helped people in 82 nations, providing over a billion dollars in aid. The organization states on its website that it:

…helps people in the world’s toughest places turn the crises of natural disaster, poverty and conflict into opportunities for progress. Driven by local needs and market conditions, our programs provide communities with the tools and support they need to transform their own lives. Our worldwide team of 3,700 professionals is improving the lives of 16.7 million people in more than 40 countries.

One of those countries is Israel. There, Mercy Corps works almost exclusively with Palestinians, and, perhaps because of their work their or perhaps because of other biases, they loudly parrot an anti-Israel attitude, placing all the blame for the conflict on the shoulders of Israel (and none on the Palestinians). Mercy Corps has pointedly laid the blame for the malnutrition of Palestinian children, the lack of adequate health care and education for families on the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and high poverty rates among Palestinians squarely at the feet of Israel, completely ignoring the responsibility of groups like Hamas and the Palestinian Authority for conditions in the region.....
