18D and Sage Prep...

Anyone got any coat tails I could ride for suggestions for sage prep?

I am part of the "old" pipeline where it was MOS, then language, then Sage after 4-6 months or more of not using your 18D training....I'm sure there are complaints aplenty, so I won't do it again...in short, it will be over 6 months since me and my 18D class left JSOMTC and we have not lived and breathed 18D like we did when we were in school.

I assume the suggestions that can be shared include trauma, TCCC, CASEVAC, MASCAS...has anyone already got a "refresher" in place that could make suggestions for me and some other 18Ds?

The rumors are pretty random concerning SOFMSSP (that isn't correct, but you know what I mean) so I would like to hop on something already in place or I guess initiate something that hasn't started.

Thanks for the advice (if any) in advance.

I agree with the pervious posts

Ruck a ton, condition, and eat. That being said, a group of 18D's and I started our own training a little more than a month out from SAGE. Started as med PT, and evolved into med classes, UW classes from 18A's that were going to SAGE with us, and conceiving missions and doing OPORDS. It's a couple months old now, and we even started getting access to the schoolhouse. I suggest you find some of the guys around that know of this training and get on board. Be a well rounded guy first, and a solid medic second. Each lane is unique, but what is true for all of them is you must contribute, even when you aren't patching holes. Good luck.

Fair enough...that's why I used the "" cuz I know the course scheduling and order of events seem to change weekly and the truly old course is long before my career and/or lifetime.

Thanks for the advice all.

What everyone else said plus...

bone up on your vet subjects, including slaughter and vet necropsy. Don't forget to pack band-aids and lots of 'roids. Multivitamins can keep your team mostly healthy through the FTX.

It's been a while, but that's what I remember vividly from the med side.
