Operation Overlord
On the morning of June 5, 1944, U.S. General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the supreme commander of Allied forces in Europe gave the go-ahead for Operation Overlord, the largest amphibious military operation in history. On his orders, 6,000 landing craft, ships and other vessels carrying 176,000 troops began to leave England for the trip to France. That night, 822 aircraft filled with parachutists headed for drop zones in Normandy. An additional 13,000 aircraft were mobilized to provide air cover and support for the invasion.

WWII in Perspective

This graphical presentation of the scale of losses in human life during WWII really puts things into perspective! Well worth watching IMO.

Wow, thank you for posting the PDF. I saved it; it's written that well, one of the finest things I've seen. Many would do well to look afresh at the notion that people in a formerly-oppressed foreign country would 'adopt' a Soldier & their grave by name and learn all they could about them - and think hard about what that means.
Well done to your friend Rick.

Very touching tribute. It is heartening to hear that young people over there are interested in true history and freedom.
