The last time I had to go in for an emergency to the local ER, it took me three hours to see anybody. The place was full of Latinos, who I suspect were illegals, as I didn't hear much english. As a matter of fact besides them, all I saw were trailer park types, for lack of a better term.

THIS WAS AN INJURY THAT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. DON'T BE A HERO...

SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT.

The photos are of an officer trained in hand-to-hand combat. The officer figured, due to his size and fighting skills, he could disarm a knife wielding aggressor.

Here is why I am forwarding these pictures on. To all the idiots out there who always say, "Why did the cops have to shoot him? He only had a (insert your choice of weapons here, i.e. knife, bat, club. whatever). He didn't have to be shot. To that, I respond,"tough crap ... shoot'em".

If an officer tells you to drop your weapon, just drop it. If you're a retard, stupid, on crack, mental or just "scared" ... too bad. No one deserves what this cop got for just doing his job. If you got a knife, then you should die ... period. This is vivid proof of how deadly people who are "only armed with a knife" can be. Some of the public think that officers should try to disarm someone armed with a knife but anyone who has had training in knife fighting will tell you - even if you win you are going to get cut.

Keep this in the back of your mind when confronting someone armed with an edged weapon.
That kind of damage can be perpetrated by someone who knows what he is doing while holding nothing more than a 1-1/2 to 2" bladed knife. And considering that the average adult male can cover 7 yds in less than 2 seconds, you're in for some trouble if you aren't "prepared". Thanks for sharing...awesome pics. I take it the police officer survived to fight another day.? Yes, SS, a knife is an awesome weapon!

Talk about the worlds oldest weapon.

A highschool aquaintence of mine became Disneylands first homicide victim after he was stabbed to death during a physical altercation there 30 years ago. I had pretty much forgotten about the incident until reading this thread.

Seeing the pics of the officer makes one wonder about how people used to survive during the sword and horses days. They had to be some tough mudders back then or just plain lucky to make it through a skirmish.

We were in a 2 day post-FTX stand-down out in Flagstaff when one of our NCOs was attacked by a group of cowboys in a bar called the Purple Jester. After performing what turned out to be a cholecystectomy on one of them with his Army issued demo knife, they retreated with their friend to the local ER.

Doesn't take a big knife to do BIG damage to the human body.

Exactly! So all the more reason to be vigilant and situationally aware.

Don't know when you were there, but it sure wasn't in 1972.

After they were wounded they were stiched up with hairs from their horses tails.

In all seriousness, I miss my Camillus demo knife. I found a use for the punch, it seems, on a daily basis.

Great information! I also like the question, "Why did the cop have to shoot him ten times?" coupled with my favorite answer, "Becasue he only had ten rounds."

2" is fatal. I knew two knife guys in SF. Both carried small blades as sharp as scalpels. I was always nice to them...
