Just a musing...

...from "deplorable" land.
Literally a flicker of a thought last night. Perusing the program just before #2 grand-daughter's HS commencement ceremony. They separately list the Honors Students, along with the names of parents, who will be announced as they're escorting their grad to be seated.* They explain the differences in tassel colors and a white mantle on the gown being membership in Nat'l Honor Society, etc., blah blah.

Looking down the list of honor students (and there were a BUNCH, with a sprinkling of ethnic variations) it struck me:
"Hunh. These are all 2-parent households with the same last name. What d'ya know about that..."

* #2 just missed the cut, but we were very proud of her because unlike her older sister, to whom many things seem to come easily, she had to work hard to be where she was but never gave up.

Thanks! To be honest I enjoy them thoroughly. Their parents have raised a couple of fine solid people and, glancing around these days, that is plenty to be grateful for. (Caveat: Modern early-indoc was not done as they were home-schooled till entering 7th grade.)

Congratulations! Now you get to start over with college.

Nah, that's on her Dad, although I'm amenable to festivities. This one though is going to take a break for awhile. She's not drank the kool-aid that says "all people must have some 4-yr degree." Maybe she'd like to be a welder or somethin'...

Although I'm a better "Hunter," my wife still out fishes me. Kerr Scott in Wilkesboro. Of all things, using chicken livers. Lol.

Having my youngest daughter here for three weeks. Introducing her to the history and sights of the SW part of the country.

She never knew about Los Alamos and the bomb 💣. Liberal Washington State education is very lacking. She also never heard of Billy the Kid 🙈

Lots of miles to do to fill in the blanks....

Hot time of the year but a lot of interesting Indian villages in the 4 corners area. Enjoy!
