Enlistment, wokeness, and focus
Durbin noted that the U.S. military is experiencing low levels of recruitment, which have become a grave threat to our national security. Durbin argued in his speech that we are also in desperate need of workers to fill key jobs in industries like health care and agriculture, which can be filled by immigrants.

Durbin has proposed a path towards citizenship via the enlistment of immigrants for service in the US Military to cover the short fall in enlistments DUE TO WOKENESS…….but Durbin avoids that root cause.
My take: the DXM☭CRATs never lose sight of their goal, which imo is the socialist overthrow of the US Constitution. Enlistments are down due to wokeness, Americans see the corruption, and will not enlist and serve under an authority that seeks to dismantle our Unalienable rights.
The DXM☭CRATs still focused on the goal see opportunity in creating an opening for citizenship while at the same time forming a force loyal to its goals, native born Americans would not align with them. Whereas a foreign born force would act on its behalf, because it has no cultural alligence to the constitution.

I suspect Durtbin is trying to restart the WWII Second War Powers Act of 1942 or some similar abomination. Just what we need: 10 million claiming PTSD disability on the VA tab.
Quote:
After the United States entered World War II Congress acted to provide for the expedited naturalization of noncitizens serving honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The Second War Powers Act of 1942 (56 Stat. 182, 186) exempted noncitizen service members from naturalization requirements related to age, race, residence, any educational tests, fees, filing a declaration of intention, and enemy noncitizen status. Later, a 1944 statute (58 Stat. 885) also eliminated the requirement for proof of lawful entry to the U.S.
Noncitizen service members who wished to naturalize still needed to show that they had served honorably, had good moral character, were attached to the principals of the Constitution, and had a favorable disposition toward the good order and happiness of the United States. No member of the military was forced to naturalize and service members did not “automatically” gain citizenship upon joining the Armed Forces. To become a citizen, a naturalizing service member needed to file a petition for naturalization and swear the required Oath of Allegiance.
During the War the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) oversaw the campaign to naturalize members of U.S. Armed Forces. Stateside, the INS worked with the military to identify noncitizen soldiers who wished to naturalize, helped soldiers complete the required petition, and organized swearing ceremonies. In many cases INS officials traveled to military camps to process large groups of soldier petitions. Because petitioners needed to swear the Oath of Allegiance in open court, a naturalization judge would then open a session of court at the camp and swear in the soldiers onsite.

All nations suffer military setbacks. But none in memory have shamefully hightailed out of a theater as we did from Afghanistan.
Few countries could even imagine discarding billions of dollars of weapons and hardware into the hands of the terrorist Taliban, or abandoning a $1 billion new embassy, and a huge, remodeled air base.
Why did the administration simply allow a huge Chinese spy balloon to float and photograph leisurely over the continental U.S.?
Naïve countries might endure two or three attacks on their overseas bases without serious retaliation. But how could the U.S. military permit 135 rocket barrages by Iranian-supplied terrorists on American soldiers without a major and sustained response?
Is the point to humiliate our own troops? To destroy what is left of U.S. deterrence?

A better question might be is "why are American soldiers on a base in Syria, where we have not been invited to be by the Syrian government?"
If you put troops into a war zone, you can reasonably expect them to be attacked. Hansen is talking like a neocon in favor of major and sustained United States military action in Syria.

Really good question!
Why are American soldiers in Syria?
Is the guberment hoping for an incident (Like the Tonkin Gulf) to get more involved (and sell more munitions)?

imoo, the article is stating the above.
That Obama, through FJB is destroying the country and its institutions methodically.
It's not a neocon statement to engage abroad. It's a statement of leadership willingly allowing the enemy to demoralize the country, by not allowing the military to retaliate in kind, produces a psychological defeat that demoralizes the population, equals the same result that immigration achieves by devaluing citizenship with open boarders, cash cards paid with your tax dollars. If you can fully demoralize the population you can take anything from them.
The argument reads the litany of past, present and possible outcomes that all are dovetailing to the undoing of the social, cultural, and institutional underpinnings that support reasonable government.
