Royal Robbins 5.11
We just started carrying this stuff in our store here in Fort Worth. Does anyone have any opinions of, or experiences with this gear or this company? Are any of their other "Non Tactical" lines of gear worth looking into? I just bought a pair of the pants, and I like them except for the possibility of putting enough gear in them to impede my ability to walk.

Great gear.
Line includes pants, shorts, polo shirts, short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, and vests.
Let me know if there is a Group Buy deal underway.

i like my 5.11 pants. material seems tough enough, and the small front pocket is perfect for my cell phone.
as i understand it, 5.11 is now a seperate entity from royal robbins.
cheers,
MM

The only problem I've had was with the magazine pockets on the vest. They sit on one side thus pulling vest on that side.
They need to add some durable material to the inside of the pocket to prevent the magazines from wearing thru.
Anyways...I like them!

Good kit.

the vests are handy and made of a heavy cotton material, heavier than BDU material (temperate). Have modded mine with internal holster and add'l reinforcements at stress points.
FWIW - I got mine from

Not even close. Much larger and longer.
Have you seen a pair of UDT shorts?

Yes Sir, I have I have also seen a pair of the 5.11 shorts but the guy I say them on was about 6'8" so maybe it was the shorts that he was wearing.....the guy was also kind of a homo. Thats probably why they looked so short on him.
Thank you for the clarification TR.
Sorry for the mis-information Team Sergeant.

I think that they make standard "Cargo" shorts, and also something that they call "Academy" shorts that, from the pictures at least, look to be at least a couple of inches shorter than the standard shorts.
