"All enemies, foreign AND domestic".......
I think if the dims / a commie president were to try to declare an emergency that in some way furthered the confiscation of guns, they would be openly declaring war on the Gun-Owning Citizens of the Several States. I don't think they have the collective memory between all of the empty-headed commie-dims to know that is exactly how the colonies became the independent States that joined together to be the United States.....
To bastardize an Archer quote: "Do you want a revolution? Cause that's how you get a revolution!"
I say, bring it on, let the cards fall where they may, and lets do this! It's about time the USG found out exactly why the 2A is in there, but that's just me.

I fully agree, sir, and I have no problem with his actions. I just think the Dims will see it as an opportunity to open Pandora’s Box on what they see as a national emergency. You could also add to it their claims that climate change is the greatest threat to our existence.

I think you’re right and I believe we (gun owners) would respond appropriately.

The danger as I see it is a liberal POTUS says "national emergency" so better reinstate the 94 version. Of the "assault weapons ban" and lower courts say "it was legal once so it is legal now."
Depending on SCOTUS is always a roll of the dice.
When that works they go after another piece and little by little liberal gun control is instituted.
I want a wall (more great wall of china with technology and manpower to stop this invasion, not so much steel slats and smiles) and I would be ok with illegals being rounded up and forced to build it.
But I don't want to continue investing too much power in our executive branch. It WILL come back to haunt us.

Military "Leaders" sign letter for Giffords
Quote:
Former military leaders in a coalition with Gabby Giffords are urging Congress to pass the same gun controls that failed in Illinois and California within past few months.
Roll Call reports that the former leaders include former Coast Guard Commandant Thad Allen, former Aghanistan Commander Stanley McChrystal, and “former NSA and CIA director Michael Hayden.”
The group sent a letter to “to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer,” urging broad support for universal background checks. They wrote:
A prohibited person with dangerous intent can easily buy a gun over the internet or in a parking lot with no questions asked. For those of us with extensive firearms training, who have seen the damage inflicted by a powerful weapon in the wrong hands, this is simply unfathomable.

The perfidy is so thick in this one; makes me want to head right back out to the range.
Rest of the article at the jump.

More... faster...
As more snow bears down, this kind of thing would be a good warming trend.
Quote:
Fourteen of New Mexico’s 33 counties have adopted “Second Amendment Sanctuary” resolutions to make clear their sheriffs feel no pressure to enforce new gun controls being pushed by Democrats at the state level.
On February 21, Breitbart News reported that six counties had adopted “Second Amendment Sanctuary” status, but that number has now increased by eight. And the Albuquerque Journal reported that the number will likely climb.
The gun controls being pushed at the state level include universal background checks, a red flag law allowing gun confiscation, and an expansion of the “prohibited purchasers” list. The New Mexico Sheriff’s Association has planned to sue the state if the new gun controls are enacted.
On February 10, Breitbart News reported that 29 of New Mexico’s 33 sheriffs signed a statement against adoption of the new gun controls. And CBS 7 quoted Lea County Sheriff Corey Helton saying, “You’re just taking guns out of law-abiding citizen’s hands. This is not going to affect the criminals out there. They’re going to be able to get guns and they do not follow the law.”

More socialist nullification please, and let's see if state police agencies want to do the work they thought others would do for them. Not as clean a deal as arranging for the right people to be at the bottom of an abandoned mine but I like to see Sheriff's poking the statehouse. County & smaller is where shit happens.

Amen
Stopped in the local gun shop after a morning on the trail... Parking lot was overflowing, inside was a mixture of buyers, browsers and a great deal of socializing happening. It made my day.

Not enough of that goin' on. Amusing aside, earlier today I was going down a rabbit trail on some (unrelated) topics to do with Iceland. An interesting stat I came up with - the paragraph was discussing its rating as one of the happiest countries on the planet - is that 98% of Icelanders say they personally know someone nearby they could completely rely on to be there in the event of some cataclysm. Thought that was pretty amazing and something that more Americans ought to chip away at. Ya know, let's chat, there's a diner down the street that does great breakfast...

Ha, funny you mention that. I get off at 3PM on Fridays, and every few weeks or so I stop by my local gun store to see what new handguns I can test out. It's a small place, but it's always busy, either with the same people looking to buy a new weapon, BS'ing w/the owner bringing him coffee, or new people just looking at "eye candy". And of course there is me, too bad I have to wait to buy a new one. Ha, but it's always a cool place to visit, talk and learn.

Gun store eye candy... it does the heart good.
Look at that cute little carbine over in the corner with the designer barrel shroud - you can see RIGHT THROUGH that barrel shroud...
...and if you look closely, that carbine doesn't have on any sling swivels
...plus, I hear that the trigger is REALLY easy to pull
I just recommend that before you start shooting the gun candy indoors - always use a suppressor.
