Mitt Romney.... Says 20 Years In Afghanista

Mitt Romney, Who Avoided Military Service During Vietnam, Says 20 Years In Afghanistan Isn’t Long Enough

https://thefederalist.com/2020/11/18...t-long-enough/

"Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah thinks that the U.S. needs to keep troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, stating that even after 20 years of a military presence there, “conditions for withdrawal have not been met.”

“The decision to withdraw our troops from Afghanistan, Iraq, and potentially elsewhere should not be based on a U.S. political calendar,” Romney said in a statement. “The Administration has yet to explain why reducing troops in Afghanistan—where conditions for withdrawal have not been met—is a wise decision for our national security interests in the region.”............"

Wonder what the conditions for withdrawal are?A stable government functioning under democratic control with rights of all protected?

I wish that shit sack carpet bagging flip flopping self righteous blowhard would just go away. This asshole has turned Virtue Signaling and political profiteering into nothing less than Renaissance Art.
He's just another poster boy for what has gone wrong with our political landscape.

Now, I hate to even vaguely sound like I might agree with him - I don't - we should pack up our shit and come home from a lot of these shit holes.
However - not for nothing, but we still haven't redeployed from WW2 or Korea just yet. The USA has camps, barracks, stations, kasernes, training centers, yards, centers, bases, and air fields that we ain't neeeeever going to leave behind.
Never?
Never.
Never ever?
NEVER EVER!!!

We have units stationed in Italy, Germany, and Japan that have been there for 75 years or so that will probably be there for at least another 75 years. We should stop pretending and quit calling these things in Iraq and Afghanistan things like FOBS and LSA's and just give them a name like all of the other "temporary" locations we have around the globe. Lets stop pretending that we are only in a defensive perimeter waiting until the exfil bird hits the LZ.
-Face it folks, once we open an AAFES and a Burger King in your town, that's it - we're fucking staying.

Forever.

Forever and ever.

Forever and ever Amen.

Eisenhower tried to warn us about the corrupting influence of the "military-industrial complex"- but we didn't listen.
So, as punishment, now we have the corrupting influence of the Green Bean and Burger King AND - if you're lucky, you can still get some mother fucking Anthony's Pizza !!!
For shit sakes - as recently as 2019 the Corps of Engineers was still building new facilities for AAFES Exchanges in Iraq.
AAFES generates 8 billion dollars a year in revenue - why in the world would we end wars with that sort of profit potential.
...and that's just the shit being sold to the troops. Imagine how much green is being circulated from all the other grand pursuits that flourish when we are shooting at people that don't speak English.

"Since 1895, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service has gone where Warfighters and their families go to provide quality, tax-free merchandise and competitive, military-exclusive pricing on the goods and services military communities need—regardless of location, risk or challenge. Exchange earnings provide dividends to military Quality-of-Life programs."

I fucking LOVE quality, tax-free merchandise and competitive, military-exclusive pricing on goods and services.
Few things excite me as much as fueling my love of the shooting sports at the PX and then fueling my finely chiseled figure with a cheese-steak sandwich from O'Charleys.

20 days -20 weeks - 20 months - 20 years - what difference at this point does it make ?
