Lactate Supplement/ Sportlegs

www.sportlegs.com

Anyone used this before? I seen in on a military athlete selection prep workout guide, and bought some. Its kind of a complicated science behind it that apparently not many know about, but it seems to work. Ive tried it a few times and the result is that I'm not as sore as I should be from working out. Plus, I seemingly can do more for a longer time. My only wandering thought is the long term effect when not using the additional lactate, if your muscles will perform the same/worse/better.

Thoughts?

The problem with these sport performance enhancers are they are not really designed for our kind of conditioning. You must understand that the soreness from lactate buildup is the process your body uses IOT to adapt to the new stresses. Your muscles do not grow or strengthen while you exercise they grow when you are resting and your body is rebuilding the damage and adapting to make you more resistant to the demands.

The science behind these things are shortcuts to hard work with little pain and more gain. It is a product being sold period. You will here many "shade tree" nutrition experts in the military SF has tons of them without a real basis and understanding of muscle stamina and strengthening.

You will go into muscle depletion caused by using glycogen you will have lactate buildup and you will NOT have these supplements. You need to mentally be able to handle the soreness and no muscle energy which you will have at SFAS. Your body needs to develop it's ability to recover without a commercial performance supplement.

If you are an athlete that likes to perform competitevly then this is as good of a product as any. I used CYTOMAX which was awesome for stamina.

I continue to be amazed at the number of potential candidates who want to start these high-speed, low-drag supplements, work-out programs, special diets, medical devices, penile implants, trick socks and boots, NERF rucks, etc.

Here is what we call a clue.

You will not be allowed to use any of this shit at SFAS.

For you 18Xs, you will not be able to use any of this during your months at Basic and AIT, Airborne School, or SFPC. Any improvements attributable to these will attrit away during your time prior to SFAS.

I am not sure what sparks people to invest in these programs for temporary gains, but this is wrong-headed. Maybe Gen Y thinks they can buy toys to get them whatever they want.

Regardless, my advice to you is to go old school. Eat healthy, wear and use issued gear, workout with a routine that will (without special equipment) allow you to perform well at the tasks you will be required to execute at SFAS and the SFQC. Set your mind on the path to success. Never quit.

The SWCS Prep book is an excellent conditioning program, if you have the time and ability to PT on your own.

Ultimately, what is in your head and heart is more important that what your body is like and what is on your feet or back. I am not saying don't condition yourself or PT hard, but you also have to get your mind right and want it for the right reasons.

I am sure that we will see another of these questions within the week.

Good luck!

This site may be helpful in answering some of your questions, Joshua20. Its an evidence based resource that may be a little more reliable than most ".com" sites out there and its for military athletes. Click on the dietary supplements tab; might take some searching, but you can search specific supplements and ingredients to determine positive effects, negative effects, safety issues, etc. You may have to search by individual ingredient.

As a former competitive cyclist, I have found the best way to increase lactate threshold, or lactate flush, is by staying at lactate threshold longer. Endurox was a popular lactate buffering enhancer when I raced, but my logs never reflected an increase in performance. Burn. Suffer. Burn. Suffer. Burn. Suffer less. And hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Just my 2cts.
