Two gloves
I have tried the camelback gloves and was not very impressed.
I incorporate my shooting gloves under a pair of welding gloves. Use an awl to punch a hole in the upper portion of the welding glove and run zip-ties through the holes. Tighten the zip-ties just tight enough to go over your hand and around your wrist. You will be able shake the gloves off as soon as you are off the rope and be able to get to your weapon and manipulate it without worrying about loosing or stuffing the welding gloves. Then when time / environment permits, you can hang the welding gloves off a carabineer on your gun belt.
You can get welding gloves for free at supply. If your unit supply does not have them, hook up with an aviation supply guy
