All training can be conducted via computers or virtually. All troops should be mandated to live in the barracks so we can do away with the team rooms, company areas, Bn HQs. All work will be done online. Modern congressional thinking...

I want to believe it's nothing more than additional training and purging the workspace of anything personal, but knowing what info is currently collected to feed the semi-automated continuous evaluation process for security clearances, combined with the recent social media scraping campaign on ARNG troops in DC, I'm not so sure this new focus on finding 'extremists' will be mostly benign.

I’m trying to figure out how there are no howler monkeys from the media or congress calling for her head after hearing about this? I imagine there would have been a “Trump Impeachment Trigger-‘Level 1 Event’” if he had even been shown a machine gun while visiting the troops, let alone said something as stupid as Pelosi.

A political reliability purge to consolidate power, pushing lower down the org, seems like a possibility to match the growing politicisation of senior leadership in recent decades.

I never would have expected to see mutated variants of communist party political commissars in western forces.

What is completely absent from the recent conversation about overstated right wing extremism risk in the US military is the very high public trust ratings earned by the US military and to a slightly lesser extent the 14k mostly local law enforcement agencies in the US.

The target of the Left in 2020 was ‘racist law enforcement’.

The target of the Left in 2021 is ‘insurrectionist right wing military’.

Meanwhile, public trust in Congress and Mass Media is only 1/4 to 1/6 that of the military and most local law enforcement.

To institute a new social system, socialist based, you must have the total support of the military. If they are able to accomplish that, the next step is the 2A, and we are toast.
Thinking about the speed in which they react to secure their advantage, it would be of little surprise to see them rapidly rolled out authority of the military. Agency is to have a plan, the SDP has always been in a fall forward failure position, while those who believe in a fair turn and the belief that we are all Americans is viewed from the SDP position as a competitive advantage.

Thanks for that. Now I'll have Keith's ES-355 intro to that in my head all day. Much better than gas-station island music.

It’s not too amazing to have seen this yesterday in the news but, they managed to take an old sentence or maybe it was a small paragraph from a study done in the late ‘90s during initial assessments and background checks to justify what they are attempting to do now. I’m paraphrasing from memory here:

The old sentence read: Extremist groups and Cartels and those with ties to Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMG) and Ethnic Gangs (Bloods, Crips and MS13) attempt to join the military to acquire specialized military training and weapons training to advance their skills.

Yesterday’s read: Extremist groups and those with ties to white supremacy groups, and militias attempt to join the military to acquire specialized military training and weapons training to advance their skills.

It’s a good thing we don’t have to worry about drug cartels, OMG’s and MS13 in the ranks anymore...that’s a relief. Just those pesky white people and those that have a dislike for sharing their shower with someone who doesn’t know if he’s a she or she’s a he.

I heard the new SecDef last night...he sounds like a real company man!

According to a lesson of history . . .

Uncle Joe Stalin EXECUTED those he considered disloyal in the 1930's. Now, there is no way the democrats will KILL those servicemen . . . right?

You'll forgot about Janet Napolitano? Soldiers, Veterans, they want to feel safer, having corrupted the entire political system. That purge, just may backfire on them.

I'm just a civilian so I rarely run my piehole here because I don't have much of anything to contribute, but I just wanted to note I feel like we've lost our republic and we're literally one step away from being just like the Soviet Union and worse maybe. I had hoped that if all things went to absolute shit and the government turned on us the military would save us, but it looks like DOD is gearing up to have the military be the ones that are going to stomp us into the ground. I don't know what to do.

JasonB, it’s unlikely the U.S. military will ever be the force to “stomp us into the ground.” I wouldn’t over think this current issue, but being prepared for anything is also prudent. Just saying.

I honestly hope not, I wouldn't imagine that they would go along with anything crazy. Seems like going after the ones in the military that support one political mindset over another trying to create a one sided military loyal to the state and not the constitution can only lead to bad things though. Same thing happened in every growing dictatorship through history if I'm remembering my history correctly. I apologize if I come off as insulting to our service members, that certainly isn't the intent.
