With the hammer all the way forward, the weapon will not fire, no matter how hard or with what you strike the hammer. The firing pin is inertial and there is a spring in front of it that will absorb any shock that comes from the muzzle end. I've had a BM for many years and it's like a mini-1911. In fact that was the first pistol that I bought for Air.177 when he was about 7-8 years old. You can de-activate the mag safety if you want. I'll talk you through it if needed.
