Classic Coleman camping equipment

Didn't know if this fits better here or in General Discussion - please move if needed.

Is anybody into restoring/collecting classic Coleman stoves or lanterns?
I have solo camping gear, but my wife is starting to get interested, so I picked up a stove and lantern on craigslist for $30.
The stove is a 2 burner Powerhouse 413H (single fuel) from Feb '87 and the lantern is a 2 mantle Model 220F from '72.
The stove works but looks a bit rough. The lantern doesn't work and looks even rougher. I've got it pretty much torn apart; now I just need to clean everything and reassemble.

Didn't know if anyone else had been bitten by this bug...

I run Kerosene Lanterns using Jet A !! That stuff will make even a Wick Type Lamp glow bright white.

About your Lantern. I'd get a new Gas Generator for it.

I still have my coleman stove and lantern from the early 70's. They run like a champ when I pull the out to use. Still have the boxes they came in but they do have a lot of 100 mile and hour tape on them.

Can never go wrong with them.

Glad to hear the old stuff is still good. The new stoves are awful. I had to throw out a two burner camp stove. it had a propane leak that would fill up the space under the burners and flash fire when I tried to start it. I also have a Roadtrip Grill by Coleman. it has two burners but only one works which is too bad bad because I really liked it. I still use the one side to grill steaks and burgers for my wife and I. It gets very hot quickly, I grill steaks on it using the lowest flame setting. Parts are hard to get. It goes through the small bottles of fuel quickly so I bought an adapter to hook up a 5 gallon propane tank. Mostly negative comments about service and warranty on their website...

All of the "new" Coleman camping equipment is made in China isn't it?

That is my understanding.

I have a couple of old lanterns and a stove.

The old stuff runs forever. There's quite the collectors community, if you're looking for info/parts (http://www.colemancollectorsforum.com)
I've got the lantern apart and the brass pieces soaking in come Coke overnight to clean them up. Polished up the fount while waiting out the tornado, last night. I'll post some pics once I get it back together.
Side question: Coleman says that you shouldn't run alternate fuels unless you buy their "dual-fuel" products. Do any of you know what differences there are and if I need to calculate an MSD if I try to run kerosene or gas in these"coleman fuel only" stove/lantern?
My multi-fuel backpacking stove has some different "jets" to swap out based on the fuel used, but it'll run all fuels on any jet, just not well. I'm guessing that's what will happen with these, as well.

Interesting to search the older products, I didn't know they made all those different implements. Found some pictures from the shelter, a bit of a mix but the Coleman products are reliable ( these are all dual fuel ). When the power went out the lantern was very handy. Let us know if you have any success switching the regular parts with dual fuel parts, that would be a good catch.
