RUCKS

Anyone have any info on the best ruck? I use a British 120LTR Bergen.

I use a Hello Kitty pink book bag. I find that the locals feel less threatened by it.

And, of course, it's super cool.

RUCKS vary with their use.

Military rucks vary in size but tend to be of heavier construction.

Civilian rucks (pack packs) are of lighter construction but also vary in size - and weight. Within each size class you also have light to heavy use construction - but nowhere near as heavy use as military rucks.

Once you figure out your type of usage - military vs civilian - and how much gear you plan on using you can start looking at rucks from that family. After that it depends on where the pockets are and how extra gear is attached - what you like.

Most would have three rucks/back packs. A small assault / day pack, a medium weekend pack and a large extended use pack.
