Both Australia and Philippines have prevented Huawei gear from being used in national IT infrastructure projects.

IIRC Aussie did it from the start/tender process and Philippines ripping out some Huawei gear after the start of a project and the rise of tensions between the two countries.

Sadly, NZ has reportedly been using Huawei gear in our national IT infrastructure projects in recent years despite the choices made by our immediate and regional neighbours.

I'm no IT ubernerd, but there's reasons why Aussie/Philippines did it. The same reasons why China's government never used MS Windows/Cisco.

Good read. Nobody spies on the US more vigorously than China (insert NSA joke here). It is prudent to exclude them from any infrastructure here (and probably all commercial markets as well), but also to have the ability to exploit their systems, as they have such a broad reach in their worldwide market share.

Bout time they spent more resources on the real problem - China has been trying to break into our stuff since the nineties...and being regularly successful too! The preferred route is those whom do work from home on consumer grade networks.

and the latest company with the NSA footprint is a well known hardware store chain - they have been notified and it may have been without their knowledge. We will see if they come off the press release list before it is made public...
