chicagotribune.com Editorial Board, going full retard.

chicagotribune.com Editorial Board, going full retard.

First it was baseball bats and knives. Then the “Controlled” Chicago handgun started killing en masse. Now it’s the even more deadly “Assault Rifle”, a term brought to you by the wacko liberals as there is no such thing as an “Assault Rifle”.

The Editorial Board of the chicagotribune.com would have you believe the guns are killing people, they are not. Gangs are killing each other, en masse, by any means available.

The Editorial Board of the chicagotribune.com would have you believe that banning certain guns saves people, it doesn’t. A criminal will procure a gun just like all the other criminals and they don’t go through federal background checks.

So, introducing more gun control is not the answer.

The Editorial Board of the chicagotribune.com thinks that employing a rifle is an escalation of “normal” killing practices, and it is, just wait until the car bombs start in Chicago.

The gun is not the problem, never has been. It’s merely a tool and three hundred million of them in the hands of law abiding citizens have not killed a single human, ever.

Corrupt Chicago liberal/socialists blame tools and not the individuals employing them.

How I read the article: “The Editorial Board of the chicagotribune.com now fears for their lives as a rifle bullet will travel five times the distance of a handgun bullet with energy left over to kill. These rifles in criminal hands could kill “non-gang” members from miles away. Now “everyone” in the Chicago area is at risk.”

Want to stop the killing? Easy, any and all that employ a gun, any gun, in the commission of a crime goes to jail for “fifty” years, no possibility of parole. Anyone caught selling the hardcore drugs, heroin, meth, etc. same deal, fifty years, no possibility of parole. A convicted felon caught in possession of a gun, fifty years. In five years most of the hard-core criminals will be in prison.

Banning the gun has never worked, ever. Placing the criminal in prison for the rest of his scum-bag life works.

Editorial: In a year and a half, 50 dead by rifle fire in Chicago

By Editorial Board

On a Sunday afternoon in June 2016, a vehicle caught up to Salvador Suarez on West 46th Street. He ran, but didn’t get far. One of the occupants unloaded a high-powered rifle at Suarez, killing him. Police found dozens of shell casings on the street.
A military-style weapon on the streets of Chicago? Unusual, police said at the time.

A year and a half later, that’s no longer true. Gang violence on the South and Southwest sides is more vicious, and lethal, because some members of Hispanic gangs possess assault-style rifles. The Tribune’s Peter Nickeas reports that since mid-2016, more than 140 people have been shot — 50 fatally — by gang members wielding rifles.
This is a foreboding development: 50 people in Chicago killed by gang members wielding these rifles. Bullets fired from the long guns travel at higher velocity, and inflict more damage on human bodies, than bullets from handguns do. They are accurate at longer distances. They fire quickly — one round per trigger pull — and may hold dozens of rounds per magazine. Weapons of war that have killed and wounded thousands in mass civilian shootings overseas are now in the hands of some Chicago gangs.

Chicago’s gangs were always armed and dangerous: Knives, bats and pipes were lethal in their own ways. In recent decades, increasingly rampant use of handguns made the violence worse as more flying bullets struck innocent bystanders. The introduction of high-powered rifles represents an escalation not only because military-style long guns are deadlier than handguns — they also convey stature. They’re big and flashy. Also they can’t be concealed easily like handguns. If gangs are using rifles, it means “they are emboldened and no longer fear being stopped by law enforcement,” retired Chicago police Officer Bob Angone wrote in a letter to the editor published in Thursday’s Tribune.

The Chicago Police Department knows it has a fight on its hands. Gangs appear to be cooperating to share or purchase these guns. Officers are being careful because the rifle bullets can rip through traditional police body armor. Nickeas reports that the department has set up a task force with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives within the Deering District, where this gang violence is centered. Authorities have recovered at least 11 rifles in recent weeks. An undercover federal agent negotiated the purchase of four rifles. “Weapons meant for the battlefield have no place in our city,” CPD said in a statement, specifying that nearly 250 rifles have been seized this year.
Besides vigilant policing, there may be more that can be done to disarm the gangs. First, as a deterrent, any person caught with a long gun should face a stiffer prison sentence than someone possessing a handgun. The word needs to get out that assault-style weapons won’t be tolerated on the streets of Chicago.
The second approach is to go after the illegal trafficking of all firearms by tightening gun laws. Assault rifles can be purchased legally and easily in many jurisdictions, such as Indiana. They can’t be bought for use by criminals, but it’s not hard to circumvent the law because only sales made by licensed dealers go through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Requiring federal background checks on all purchases would help shut down the pipeline to gangs.

Our point isn’t that a rifle shot leaves its victim any more lifeless than a bullet from a handgun or a knife thrust does. Our point is that, given their capabilities, rifles make an already dangerous Chicago pathology worse.

Dumbasses. If only their lord and master Obama's ATF hadn't come up with a scheme to put rifles into the hands of mexican gangs.
