HPW issues

Gents,
im trying to do some cross training with my teammates and ran into an issue with HPW. Using LOS (no sat access) the computer recognizes the radio (152 or 117G) but the HPW software will not. No issue loading drivers or changing comms ports for the PPP set up. I was told we have the wrong cables for the job, but I know for a fact that I have used these same cables before with success. Has anyone else encountered this issue before?
Thanks!

Change the cables totally and make sure you can do voice between both radios in PT fist to make sure the radios can talk before switching to data. That's what a good 18B would do.

Thats not the issue, its the HPW software recognizing the radio as more than a removable storage device and using it as a medium for HPW transmissions. I know the radios are good we have been using them on ops during the day. Im curious if anyone else has ever had an issue with the USB cables not working with the radios for some reason due to software upgrade or something else.
