I “Hate” NY! (The Democratic Approach to Amazon)
Way to go dims! Local State Senator Michael Gianaris and the soon to be more famous newly elected House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez must really “Hate” New York! Maybe single-handily they raised the roof before the first shovel had hit pay dirt.
Amazon pulls plug on New York HQ2 after having secured $3B in tax credits and promising $30B in annual income to between 25,000 and 30,000 new employees in the Queens and Long Island areas.
Gov. Cuomo must be beside himself this afternoon, especially after publicly stating the mass exodus of businesses and rich people to Florida over New York’s crippling state taxes.
Double whammy!
Good Job AOC and the op-Ed from Gianaris, New Yorkers and the Union bosses can celebrate your new victories!
Golf clap!!!

Anything that makes NY look stupid is good for me....however, in principle, I agree with the complaints.
Why should the richest man in the world with an extremely successful business that is now worldwide....be given huge tax breaks beyond the normal business incentives?
Cuomo/ De Blasio was so hot for a deal he/they bent over and took it in the ass.....others just pointed this out, but I do enjoy watching Dems in fight.

PRB-
Oh I have no love for Amazon/Bezos or companies like Starbucks/Shultz and Boeing that negotiate business deals in their favor. They don’t pay taxes but their employees do and local economies prosper because of it.
It costs money to make money, or so I’ve been told.
It’s good news for Nashville.

AOC being so young and ignorant to the realities of the world is probably asking herself why they can leave and why the state can't make them stay and force the taxation and why in gods green earth aren't they for socialism for the betterment of all mankind....its only 70% of billions....why are they so greedy.....when the green new deal passes they WILL pay...she has already attacked that reality in Congress when she discovered that their are no laws that prevent lobbying for laws and regulation on behalf of companies competing against others.
Of course if the socialist were not busy tending their unicorn ranches and rainbow factories they might have studied the history of the politics, lobbying etc....especially post industrial revolution when railroads realized they were the arteries that kept this country alive and then started to control the lobby and regulations that made it near impossible for the trucking industry to get off the ground leading to the teamsters and then as competition increased and the market started to having yet more options with airplanes the market started to open up and lower prices.
The other jackasses like Cuomo acted first and realized later that they were not yet totalitarian and forgot to get laws passed the restricts companies from leaving voluntarily and they also forgot that when companies are taxed that high they lose the capital to reinvest in newer strategies to keep growing and that despite the fact that Amazon is a foundational wealth machine that their will be pressure from those that do business through Amazon to build their own separate companies capitalist outmatch everytime they have incentive

Anyone floating any municipal bonds for coliseums...I want to get in on that, I can see it coming. It reminds me of that clip of the chimpanzee grabbing the AK 47 with a full magazine... maybe “Planet of the Apes”? Sadly.

Gov. Como recently met with President Trump asking for @3 Billion so he could make up his budget deficit caused by the millionaires & billionaires with brains that are leaving his state for a tax break.

we are literally watching Ayn Rand's ATLAS SHRUGGED play out in real life.
If you haven't read it yet, you must. Get a copy (it is actually a very good read), take the test and send a copy of your completion certificate to the training NCO. We'll brief it at the USR.

Isn't this a guy that leans left?
Why doesn't the rich liberal want to pay taxes - shouldn't he be excited about getting the opportunity to participate in the redistribution of wealth to the fine people of New York?

Because the rich liberals wants all of the deplorables to give up their money, guns and freedom while retaining their own.
They are hypocrites of the highest order.

That was a horrible, horrible deal for the NY taxpayers. They were giving up far more than they would have gotten in return.

Come again? You need to e’splain that with the same level of economic understanding that AOC uses from her degree in economics?

Interesting contrast
Quote:
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo lambasted politicians such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others over Amazon's decision to leave New York City. Opponents of the deal with the tech giant had "put their own narrow political interests above their community," he said.
