That may not be the case.

- How long have you been out of the AF...looks like you're not yet?
- What makes you think you're going to all of 'Basic'? - If it's your orders, they may be printed wrong...very common...and nothing to worry about.
- What do your physical orders say re: class dates, names, order, etc?
- I am sure Warrior Transition Course takes Sailors and Marines .... Airmen .... don't know.

I'm pretty sure since you are going in as 18x you need to reclass as 11b or 11c. That is the reason they are making you go through AIT again. I believe the WTC is for people who are coming into the army with the same MOS they had in their previous branch.

Have you previously completed Army or Marine Corps Basic Training?

I would not compare AF Basic. It isn't the same.

Do you want to be SF, or not? Is this going to cause you to turn down the contract?

When I left the Air Force for the Army I came in as a Rep-63 for 20th Group. I had WLC in my contract. I had no break in service and my AFSC did not translate to an MOS. After WTC I went to AIT for 11C.

Keep in mind that was two years ago and some things about WTC have changed. However, there were 2 others going through the course that were active duty 18X contracts. I have been told that if there are insufficient slots for WTC or if your follow on training doesn't line up they will send you through BCT.

My .02 Baht, go to basic. The only challenging part about WTC was putting up with supposed adults (other students) acting like children. Basic will give you a much better base to build upon and give you a better understanding of the Army as a system. Besides, after 3 years in the service already you have a leg up, you already know the 2 most important lessons: 1) Be where you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be there. 2) Keep your mouth shut.

I came in as a 12B from the National Guard and had to go through basic again. As an 18x you have to be infantry qualified and since infantry is OSUT you get to do the whole thing. Good luck

I have to do that as well. I'm also prior Air Force.

My understanding is we will be "tested" to see what week we insert into OSUT. Earliest I've heard is people inserting into week 3, latest is week 9 or thereabouts. At the time my guy was there, he said it was which ever class they could fit you into. Hey, if I got to go back to week 1 then that's what I will do. Maybe this time I can finally figure out the secret to marching in step. I do a lot of stuff well, but that marching bit I really was awful at.

When's your ship? I'm out 4JAN10.

-Side note, Rep 63s do warrior transition stuff, AD go to 11B OSUT.

well its not going to stop me from going... i already signed. first day in the army is January 7. I cant wait. I was just asking to see what other people were doing. all my previous sources said i would go to WTC then when i got to MEPS i was told i would have to go to basic again. Fine with me. Im from Phenix City, Alabama and have talked to some friends who are TI's there and they said attitude is everything for prior service guys...

Osut Inserts

I'm a 19 Delta went through OSUT in 07. We had a few guys inserted into our AIT that were just re-classing from their current MOS. I can say that our DI's treated them no differnent than us, in fact they may have had it a little worse. But good luck to you, maybe we'll cross paths in the pipeline. Back to doing push ups.

It's not a big deal to me either, just a discussion topic guys I'm not here to complain. just talk with guys who want what i want or have already been there. and I'm not saying I'm going to get treated better but one of the TI's i talked to at Benning said they just kicked one prior service guy out because he was a complete dirtbag, and emphasized to me the importance of a good attitude...

I had 4 years as a patriot gunner, got out for 2 years and came back in as an 18X. They sent me to week 4 of OSUT.

One of my buddies was prior Navy, came in as an 18X never having fired an M16..he went to week 10 of OSUT.

Another buddy of mine was out for 18 years. They sent him through WTC(which was an absolute joke he says), but he didn't have to go through OSUT.

We're all in the Q now...so there's no way to tell which route you'll take until you get to inprocessing and the civilians there figure it out themselves.

Good luck.
