Stabilzed equipment containers (SEC's)

Ok, I looked far and wide for information regarding "stabilzed equipment containers" and thier use during military freefall operations. Heres a couple of questions. Are they still in use, or for that matter have they ever been successfully used during military freefall operations??

I suppose that a contingency plan would be in order if the SEC burned in, thus ruining the necessary equipment that was stored in them. How often did this happen? that is if the question of thier use is a "YES" ?

As an avid skydiver, I cant imagine stablizing around an SEC only to watch it burn in ! I suppose a good rule of thumb is to not follow your SEC if the barametric trigger for the chutes deployment simply does not work !
