USAPSSE

Interesting thread Hilmar. I was a GI in Germany during the early 80s performing physical security at HQEUCOM. It was and is still located at Patch Barracks in Stuttgart/Vaihingen.

I assume that USAPSSE was formed as a necessary reaction in response to some of the terrorist actions that took place in Europe during the early 80s such as the kidnapping of General Dozier by the Red Brigade and also the assassination attempt of General Krosen by the Red Army Faction. I also remember that there were a number of terrorist bombings on American Kaserns throughout USAREUR.

Assume whatever you will.

I don't think we are going to get into that here.

Thanks for your response. I'm still in contact with John Stoops (fomer member of above unit) as 1SG. He resides with family in Berlin. Did you know him? Regards Hilmar Kullek

REICH

Anyone here remember MSG Reich? I replaced him, over at SOFO, which ended up inside Clay Caserne back in the mid 80s. Last I saw him he was recovering from a total bypass (ankles all the way up) for heart troubles. He was doing well, still living in Berlin with his wife...and I am not sure if I dare ask how he's been lately.....

I was an MP in Berlin in the early 80"s. On patrol one night we pulled a car over whose driver had a snoot full. Turns out he was an E-8 from Det A.

He was a great guy and he didn't give us a hard time so we parked his car and gave him a ride to his quarters. His wife tore him a new one and we just chuckled on our way out.
