Is the doe in the 1st pic and the hog in the 2nd appear in the same focal plane??

If so, that hog is a bruiser..

Are those Key deer or just small whitetails?

Lunch..

Key Deer

The old fellow is about as big as any get, maybe 70-80 lbs. His diet is starting to suffer, ergo the 5x1 rack.. It is hard to see, but he has a golf ball swell over his left eye, presumably from a butt.

The button was very aggressive. He was trying to push the 5x1 out of the way. May be the next big guy.

The 3x3 in the back ground was timid. I don't think he got close enough to get any of the offerings..

We do not feed the deer, per say. We do recycle all veggie & starch matter in our "open compost area" (side yard), if we have any. May go 5-8 days without.

There is a 30-40 head heard that lives at the end of the street. They visit several times a day.

We trade compost access for small organic pellet fertilizer lawn enhancement dropping.

I consider it a fair trade,, The show for the Touristas is a nice benefit..

I had these four punks show up at my corn feeder. After the last snow, between deer, turkeys, racoons, and every other animal in the woods, I am losing about 50 lbs of corn per day.

LOL! Snow's good to ski in...Also good for getting down a mountain fast when you need to. Bad, for getting down a mountain fast when you don't

Empty water bottle (or more specifically filled body warmer) in the sleeping bag also poses some serious risks late at night

Have fun and take care Bushranger

Today I went to the hills to break in a new pair of Meindl boots, so during that I did my traditional trail cam run:

Nice Fox BushRanger...

The predators are some of the harder ones to get on cam especially at night.

While doing research in the Galiuro Mountains I had a couple of low hung cams damaged, later determined to be by cats (Jaguar [the biter] and possibly mt. Lion on the second). Apparently the IR attracts their attention and they just have to play with it. Both cams where unusable after playtime, one with quite large puncture holes dangling from the tree, the other took more than an hour to find. Now use the flash only. Heard similar stories with fox and bear.

GJ!
