The family of SFC Fred W. Pohnka, Jr. has invited the Patriot Guard to join them in remembrance of their loved one. He served our nation for 25 years in the National Guard. His decorations include the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, M-16 Expert Badge, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Special Forces Tab, and Parachutist Badge. He was a 1965 graduate of NLRHS. He was a member of VFW Post 9095, NRA, and Wye Mountain Hunting Club.

Mr. Pohnka was employed with Security One as a bank guard. His friends and neighbors referred to him as "Mr. Freddie" and he was known as a generous man who always had a smile. A faithful employee, when he failed to report for work on July 8 his co-workers went to his home, to find that he had passed.
