Proud Father

Very proud to say my son arrived at Ft. Benning yesterday. If all goes well come the end of June he will be a 19D. Raised him on my own since age 7. I think he made a good choice.

Congratulations. My middle kid is a brand new infantryman out in Colorado - its very satisfying to watch one of your young'uns take a big step on their own.

At my son's commissioning ceremony about a year and a half ago, I told my wife and her mother not to embarrass my son by crying as they pinned on his 2LT bars. They were fine. I subsequently stood and moved into position to render him his first salute (as a former enlisted soldier). As I did so, I got "Congratulations, Lieutenant ....." and lost it before I could get back to my seat. My wife and mother-in-law have yet to let me live it down.

Congrats to the other Dads on here.
