Three US soldiers 'killed' in Niger ambush

RIP, Heroes.

Three US soldiers 'killed' in Niger ambush

Three US soldiers have been killed and two others wounded in an ambush in Niger near the border with Mali, reports say.

Several Nigerien soldiers are also said to have died in the attack.

US Africa Command said the patrol had come under "hostile fire" and was working to confirm the details.

The US army has been providing training to Niger's army to help combat Islamist militants in the region, including the North African branch of al-Qaeda.

US President Donald Trump has been briefed by his chief-of-staff, John Kelly, about the attack, White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders said.

According to the New York Times, quoting a military official, three Army Green Berets - US army special forces - were killed in the ambush which took place 120 miles (193km) north of Niamey, the capital of Niger.

The paper said they were the first American casualties to die from hostile fire since the US Africa Command deployed in Niger.

Two wounded US soldiers are in stable condition and will be flown to Germany for treatment, CNN reports.

An official from Niger's Tillaberi region told Reuters that five Nigerien soldiers were among the dead.

Officials were unable to say who fired on the soldiers.

Militants belonging to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) - an affiliate of al-Qaeda - are active in the region and are known to have conducted cross-border raids.

Another Benghazi

Any truth to this?

These soldiers went to a meeting in an area near the border with Mali, a well known hot spot for ISIS activity.
Our soldiers were not backed up by US military air support. They were backed up by the French, who weren't authorized to intervene or fire a shot.
Our soldiers didn't have armored vehicles and traveled in pickup trucks.
Our soldiers were given faulty intel that said "it was unlikely that they would meet any hostile forces." Not surprisingly they walked into an ISIS ambush. It was chaotic and they took three casualties.
When the French arrived 30 minutes later, they weren't authorized to help. A dozen of our Green Berets fought a battle for 30 minutes without help against more than 50 ISIS fighters.
A rescue helicopter finally arrived after 30 minutes, but it wasn't a US military helicopter. Apparently we outsourced that job to “private contractors.” These hired contractors landed and loaded the remaining troops, the injured and the dead.
They never did a head count.
That's how Sgt. La David Johnson was left behind.
According to the Pentagon, his locator beacon was activated on the battlefield, which indicates that he was alive when they left him there.
They recovered his body 48 hours later, but so far have refused to say where. According to his widow, he couldn't have an open casket. This tells us that he was mutilated after being left behind on the battlefield.

^^^^That's just about the most ridiculous thing I've seen in a long list of trotted out theories from someone probably associated with the Left.
