REI going full retard.

Bike helmets, ski goggles swept up in gun control debate

Really you can’t make this shit up. The conglomerate that makes water bottles and sporting goods also makes ammunition.

Ah, just in time for my annual REI dividend...now...I’ll ask for cash and spend it on ammo instead of REI gear.

Oh yeah they are a unique bunch......many I know are idealistic trust fund babies. My buddy sell Bell and Giro, and the left wing loons in the cycling/camping/recreational community are boycotting them because their parent company makes ammo and firearms.

There are certainly enough tree hugging liberals to keep these businesses out of the red but, I’d really like to see the relentless hardship of outdoor loving sporting enthusiasts hunker down and spend their money supporting companies who don’t bow down to the political winds of the day.

I didn’t think I ever would do this again (for same stupid political reasons the NRA/ILA pissed me off during the Clinton years and the AWB) but since Parkland and those misfit cretins took to the streets and town halls I rejoined the NRA and GOA until this battle is won.

When I can, I will consciously make a stand against these politically driven companies, I will take my dollar somewhere else. When queried by a store employee or manager of my satisfaction I will inform them that I am buying from your company because your competition chose poorly and against the Constitution of the United States of America.

I actually pulled a short stint (6 months) at REI for something to do and to annoy the tree huggers working there. I really got under the skin of mountain bikers when I educated them that mountain bikers do indeed degrade the soil and are hell on mountain trails, unlike horseback riders and mule packing strings. With a BS in Tree Hugging (Outdoor Rec & Tourism) from CSU under my belt, as well as having worked for a professional hunting outfitter in Colorado, it pissed them off to no end that I was 100% correct.

And the to drive the dagger home, I let them know that I used my REI VISA to buy all my guns and ammo and then used to the dividend to get free stuff in the store.

Jayson here and I do not see the problem. I think all of the actions by REI and MEC are spot on. Lives always need to come first. But let's not stop just there. Any company that sponsors professional car racing should also be boycotted because as TR stated previously, cars kill way more people than firearms. And speaking of cars, they have been getting ridiculously fast lately. Here in Canada, the speed limit is 100kph, but I keep hearing about cars that can easily do 200kph+ in a matter of seconds. Well that needs to stop because who needs that kind of horsepower? Shrink those motors down baby - especially for motorcycles. Now there is something else that needs to stop if we ever want to save lives. Talk about two wheeled death machines. THey need to be tuned down and even prohibited. Who needs them anyway? Four wheels is much safer. And then there are those head cams (ex. GOPro) the riders wear. I swear they just promote more deviant behaviour which may lead to more deaths. I have seen countless YouTube - shit that should also be banned as it can glamorize antisocial or deviant behaviour so no YouTube for anyone - videos of motorcycle riders swirving in and out of traffic at ridiculous speeds. Down with those cameras! An added benefit to this is that it will help strengthen society as it will stop the amateur porn that is flooding our societies. Let's also ban cellphones for anyone under 18. How many times do we hear about cyberbullying and young people taking their lives because of cellphones? Whoa-whoa-whoa forget the age limit, let's just ban them all together. Studies have been stating for years that distracted driving due to cellphones has caused thousands of accidents each year with many of them being fatal. Cellphones have got to go. But of course if you really want to take a stand for human lives, then let's get to the root of everything. Yeah if we want to respect human life and make a better world for all people. The grand poobah of them all. We need to stop dealing with any companies who produce products offshore in poor third world countries. We all know the atrocities and terrible working conditions that people from these countries have to deal with so they may make pennies (nickles if you are from Canada as we no longer have pennies) per hour with no benefits and conditions we would not even let our pets live in. If items are made in a third world country, they should not be allowed into a first world country . . .

. . . or maybe, just maybe if you are upset about a particular company, you can choose to avoid doing business with that company and boycott the products it sells on your own? You can let companies sell what they want and just choose to avoid such items rather than getting a horde of like minded people and harass companies to bend to your will? There are many companies who I do not like for my own personal reasons. As a result I will not give them any business. I really do not see the reason to stir up the masses. But I digress, that is me. And it is Saturday morning and I need to pull a "Box" and go sit on my front porch and yell at anyone who walks on my lawn (fyi justin troodeau is not my PM either). Good thing mail is not delivered today.

Someone has filed an age-discrimination suit over Dick's & Walmarts soul-searching/conscience-assuaging/blood-dancing decision.

Seems that AAFES is pulling magazines over 10 rds off the shelves too. Seems that the store that is supposed to support us isn't. You can be issued 30 rd mags for your M4 but can't be trusted to buy your own.

AAFES is no different from the DOD at large - they are afraid of guns. Its a miracle you can even buy a wheel gun inside of a military store.

Ha...they are all going "full retard".....I have decided to buy another pistol, more ammo, targets, from my local gun store, and will join the NRA. Oh, and I just subscribed to Guns & Ammo, and I may subscribe to their other magazine; Handguns.....

Darn, I am going on vacation in June (Boone NC) and need a damn car rental. I have to research that one.

More BS from AAFES.

But AAFES says its decision was about ending a longstanding gap between product lines.

"The Army & Air Force Exchange Service has merchandised high-capacity magazines (sold separately) primarily as a result of vendor recommendations to offer the original equipment typically sold with certain firearms," according to a statement from AAFES.

https://amp.theleafchronicle.com/amp/404829002

Then why not add standard capacity to the MCX stores?

AAFES flops like the fish it is. Standard capacity magazines will return.
