Would love to hear more of that story.

Mike Brown is the guy to ask for details... in general, it involves a kid that had worked for Patraeus in a previous life, thinking he would go discuss his "ideas" on UW with the Director during a lunch break...running into the number 2 or 3, a female at that time, in a hallway, and when she asks him if she can help him (seeing he was clearly in the wrong area), he dismisses her like she's the cleaning lady...
I will say the best thing I ever saw SGM Vargas (Co SGM at the time, on that particular trip) do was tell the young man, you are officially OFF TDY effective immediately. You better be standing outside the CDR's office at 0800 tomorrow morning, and I don't care how you get there, but it wont be in one of our vehicles.

The best part was she took him into the Associate Director for Military Affairs office. LTG Cichkowski (D/ADMA at the time) thought it was pretty funny. And she was the #3. Mike Morel was the deputy director and then Acting Director once King David came tumbling down.

What a hell of a story that makes!
And....
Quote:
The source characterized the meeting as a “photo op” for the president to “once again, wrap himself in the flag of the military.”
“It’s noteworthy to take the time to do an event that couldn’t be publicized,” the official said.
Photos from the event were never publicly distributed.

I guess the author is forgetting the tight control on the WH 'optics' from the last administration where only very carefully controlled photos were released.

Also, GBs meet POTUS all the time. This was only unique in that it was at the oval and before graduation. It shouldn't have garnered any extra attention from either media, or the CoC but im not too surprised about either.

And the WH maids would be compromised.
