Any RC pilots??

How far could this sucker fly?

The engine looks like the size we used as kids. The gas tank lasted maybe 3-4 minutes. Looks like this one has more room, but it would also need gyro, compass, GPS, long range PC, & nav gear mechanics.

The surprise may be that they know that someone had to be with-in a 1/2 mile of the palace to control it..

I say just a real bad IO by the NKs. But typical. At least they have Russian backing them now.

There are autopilot with GPS that after you takeoff it kicks in and off it goes on the route. When it comes back you see it and you take control for landing. Fuel is an issue but that thing could handle a lot of fuel for its size.

Report: Downed Drones Were North Korean Spy Effort
Stars and Stripes | May 08, 2014 | by Ashley Rowland

SEOUL — Three crashed drones were launched from North Korea for spying purposes and had been programmed to fly over South Korean military installations, the Ministry of National Defense said Thursday.

An MND statement said the “smoking gun” of a joint South Korean-U.S. investigation was an analysis of the drones’ flight plans, which showed that all were launched from and intended to return to North Korea. South Korea’s Yonhap News reported that one drone crashed due to an engine problem, while the other two ran out of fuel.

Baek Seung-joo, vice minister of national defense, told reporters that the drones were trying to gain visual intelligence of South Korea and test whether its air defense system could detect small objects.
