RT Coral CCN

Not sure if "Briefback" is the proper place for this or not but here goes.

Im currently writing a short history of RT Coral for the brother of an SF soldier who served with the RT, 69-70. Ive gathered a fair amount of info by cross referencing data in Steve Shermans "Who's who in SOG". Unfortunately RT Coral is one of those teams for which there is not alot of info. There is almost nothing in Plasters books about it. Ive yet to get a copy of Harve Saals books so thats still an untapped resource.
Im writing this in hopes that some of the SOG vets here may have some info or anecdotal stuff concerning RT Coral. I would love to know the names of the 1-0 and the 1-2 for the period between Sept 69 and August 70. I have a great team photo of the RT during this period if that helps to ID the other members. I could email a scan to anybody who thinks they might be able to help out.
Thanks
JW

Both Plaster's and Frank Greco's books are centered more around CCC and not CCN. I was at CCC, '70-'71 timeframe, and have several friends that were up North.

If you want, you can PM me with the names of the individuals that you're interested in and I may be able to get you some contacts. You'll need to be patient, this may take a while!! FYI, I've known Sherm for a long time.

Later

Yeah, Mr Sherman is really cool, he took the time to talk to me for a very long time on the phone and was a wealth of info. Ill look through my reasearch papers and pull out the names of some of the Americans who served on RT Coral. Ive been at this for almost two years now so having to wait forever for more info is nothing new. Thanks for stepping up and offering to help. Ill PM you tommorow evening with a list of the names Ive gathered so far and the dates they served on the team.

It won't take forever if I can make commo with some of these people. We're a fairly small and tight community. If you don't mind, include your digits and I'll give you a call when I have a better idea of how/where this is headed.

If you don´t find what you need you can always contact someone of the SOA at specialoperations.org ;they should be able to lead you in the right direction.

RE: RT Coral

JW,

Maybe this book will help.

Laotian Highway Patrol @ http://www.trafford.com/4dcgi/robots/02-0845.html

"The spirited and salty narrative opens at Quang Tri CCN (MAC-V-SOG Command and Control - North) with an account of the prelude, conduct, and aftermath of a "no extraction is routine" mission to recover RT (Reconnaissance Team) Coral, a Special Forces team of Americans and Montagnards."

Your welcome sir,
great to know some SOG members are around here.

Is there anyone that was with CCN recon during the period 71-72?

There are several here. Your "problem" illustrates the "Quiet" of the Quiet Professional.

Thanks Ambushmaster,

I´ll try that.
It is just cause I know a 1-0 that ran recon out of CCN in that timeframe.I sent him an email to tell him about this great website.Perhaps he´ll pop in.

40 years is a long time.

Here is a picture of ST Bear at Khe Sahn in the Spring of 1968. I am the 1-0 and my pooch was named Pitard. I have no recollection of the names of the other USASF on the team. I doubt if anyone ever heard of ST Bear for that matter. A lot of history has been lost and I wish you luck in your quest.
