The dimmer switch came later..

I remember the starter button being on the right side near the accelerator.

My first P38, from Basic at Ft. Polk 48 years ago, is still hard at work. And still occasionally poking me at random inconvenient moments.

Actually, I did once. It was in the Pioneer Day Parade back home in Oklahoma in the early '60s.
