Introduction

My name is Henry Taylor, I'm 18 years old, currently in the National Guard. I'm at Fort Gordon doing AIT to become a 94F. My goal is to go active Duty and pursue becoming a Green Beret. I Joined this website after hearing it from a Specialist in the NG that was going active duty to do SFAS and how it helped him answer some questions he had pertaining to workouts and what to expect at SFAS. I hope to learn as well and find the answers to some of the questions i have. Thanks for everything and the sacrifices you guys have made for this country.

Hello

Hey everyone,
I am a prior service veteran (94-06) in the intel community. I was chatting a friend and his father in law (Vietnam era SF) and I have met only a few guys SF in my career and have the utmost respect for everyone that has earned the SF tab! I have some questions for the community so I joined up here. I appreciate you guys accepting me on this site and hope you will feel free to answer any questions I have and will be more than happy to answer any you have about the MI community! Thanks again and I have great respect for you guys and all that you have done! Thanks again

"INAM"

Hello, My name is Rhett McClure. First off I just want to say thank you for everyone here that has picked up the sword to defend this Country, I am forever grateful.

About myself: I am 27 and an Air Force Veteran. I joined the Air Force to try out for Pararescue, but because of my ignorance of taking my glasses to MEPS with me before I shipped out, I was DQ'd. After being in DEP for 2.5 years, I was told I could continue to ship out to basic and get an AFSC assigned to me or I could just not join. After waiting for so long I decided to just ship out. I just wanted to serve. Received my job in basic and served 3 years as a 3E0X2 to the best of my ability, after that I was eligible to crosstrain. Sent my package up the chain for PJ and was denied because the 1SG thought I should finish my first enlistment before crosstraining(6yrs).

At that point I looked into other options because I knew that I had a greater potential, and that's when I learned about SF. I became obssesed. After a few months I sent up my package to go Blue to Green for SF. Once again denied by the 1SG because he has never heard of someone switching branches in the middle of their enlistment. At the time they were looking for volunteers to get out of the Air Force anyways due to down sizing and sequestration so I asked to get out. 6 months later I was back home.

2nd day I was home, started talking to a recruiter about SF. Didn't end up joining because by this time I had a gf of almost 3 years that didn't want me to leave her, and I loved her so I put the dream on hold. Hindsight being 20/20, that probably wasn't the best decision, but hard lesson learned.

I've been out of the Air Force for 3 years now and I recently became single, go figure. I believe everything happens for a reason. Looking back I feel that the reason I haven't gone to SFAS yet is not because of anyone else, for we control our own destiny. It's because I wasn't ready mentally. I needed more life experience. Since getting out of the Air Force, life has thrown alot of tests at me. Today, I have a way better understanding of who I am and the person that I strive to be. It's almost like I was never meant to join until now. Once I get to SFAS there's only three options I see happening: One, I make it. Two, I get injured and hopefully get asked to come back. Three, I was never what SF needed in the first place.

In the end, my number one reason and motivation to go for the dream of becoming an SF soldier is not about me. I'm not better than anyone else, yet I was given freedom that I did not deserve. There are millions of people out there that never got the choice of freedom. So, for this gift I dont deserve to get, I will make sure I earn it. I greatly appreciate this site and the moderators. Again, thank you to anyone here who went before me, I wouldn't even be able to make this post without your sacrifices.

Good afternoon gents,

Name is Matt, I am currently training to prepare myself for the rigors of SFAS. I am mostly here to read, but I am sure I'll have a questions or two eventually. So far, as explained, the search function has kept me quiet and I appreciate all of the information that is on this forum. I hope to one day serve with you guys, until then I'm going to go make me hate myself with training.

Bon soir

Hey everyone. I've surfed these forums for further enlightenment many times the past few years, yet this is my first post. I'm a newbie 18e at Bragg. I had been an 11b for a few years before this, but I wanted to learn, do and be more. This site is a goldmine. Thank you to all the admins and contributors for being Grade-A enablers!

Hello QP's

Hello, my name is Chris, I am currently stationed at Fort Campbell and serve as a UH-60 helicopter repairer for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne). I have been involved with the Special Operations community since 2011. I was selected back in June 2016 (class 09-16 MOS 18B) and I’m scheduled to attend the Q-course within the next couple months.

Hello,
I am 26 and am currently planning on signing up within the next few months(by the end of may) as 18x. I have yet to sign any documents, and I realize talk is cheap. I have been lurking the site for over a year now and I only recently signed up because I'd like to show my support for the site. I would also like to get in touch with anyone who might be willing to mentor me for a couple of months. Thank you all for providing this website, it has helped me to learn so much.

Personal stuff for those interested:
I work 12 hour shifts overnight and I workout between rest periods of 3 to 4 hours.
On my off days i put in 4 to 5 hours at the gym.
I quit drinking a few months ago in order to utilize more of my time wisely.
I was pursuing a career in nuclear power prior to making the decision to prep for SF.

Hello, I am 24 years old and currently an E-4 in the National Guard as a 13M. I am getting the necessary paperwork together to attend the next possible SFRE. I have been actively looking through these forums for the last couple of months to gain any insight possible. Thanks for all the great information. The only roadblock I have hit is that A/20/20th SFG has moved locations. However, it is not much farther of a distance for me, and if selected and I make through the course, I plan on moving.

At work finally posting where im supposed to. .
Names Angel 32 yrs old.. always had the idea of joining The U.S Military. . I can always recall a memory from child hood where im playing a soldier. I actually have a self cartoon portrait at age 5 where i was drawn as "Commando" (Arnold S.). So when i came to age 18 ive just finished winning all American honors in wrestling by winning a state tittle. I was so focus on wrestling, that i really never thought of whats next? So i started BJJ, Boxing, Muy thai. Went to a community collage took 14 units a year dropped out at 72 units. This whole time(since 18yrs old) ive worked in a wearhouse doing wearhouse work. I must of gone to the recruiter at least 3 times by the age of 25. At 26 i went took the math reading ect. And scored an 88. Finally thinking im joining. I was going army, and felt that when i go in im going "HAM". About 2 weeks later i have an mma bout. Going to fight another guy from another gym. The weekend before my fight.. i go out on my motorcycle to join my brother at a comedy show down the street. I never made it home untill a month later. I was hit by a drunk driver spent a month getting surgeries and healing up at the hospital. It took its toll, but it never beat me. I grew out of it a better person in my opinion. So now im here been training for about 8 months trying to get back in shape. Wishing im not still dreaming of joining when im 35. So The time is now.. my plan is to start studying for the asvab test and get in physical shape. To past sfas.. im just hoping i get a shot.. so as for now im just a Fan Boy .. getting a few things together before i go to the recruiter. So thats me

Introduction

Hey all,

I don't have too much to say. The name's Kyle, and I've always wanted to serve my country. However, I believe that war isn't just about taking heads, and I believe that the Green Berets understand this better than anyone. I strive to become a Medical Sergeant, because I know that saving lives is just as important as taking them. I've got a hell of a lot to learn, and a hell of a lot of training to get done. Next year when I'm 20, I'll fight tooth and nail for the green beret. If I fall short, I'll get back up and fight again! I'm using this forum to learn as much as I can about the Quiet Professionals' way of life.

See you on the forums,
