Where's the option for DR Ben Carson?

Is he a valid option?

I heard him speak a couple decades ago......I really liked him them and now(bar the odd difference). I get the sense he is a bit Constitution-y in his perspective.

It would be good to have a candidate not beholden to the special interest money.

Can ANY candidate realistically draw enough crowdfunding to outflank and hopefully dismantle the special interest folks pulling the strings?

I've previously posted the long winded explanation as to why that assertion does not stand up to scrutiny. Trump potentially brings in voters that would not have voted for a "politician".

The only thing Trump does by joining the race is secure the "stupid" votes. And those stupid votes are what democrats live for.....

That might be true if he was the GOP candidate. The problem is that the GOP isn't going to back him so he doesn't have a hope in hell of getting the GOP nomination.

Here's how I see it going down, best case for Trump:

They get to the debates and Trump only sticks a little of his foot in his mouth and then during the debates, he shoves the rest of his foot, up to his knee, in his mouth, destroying any chance of the nomination. Or he doesn't and everything is going fine, but he still loses the primary.

He then dusts off his ego and his checkbook and continues the race as an independent. At that point, the vote is split between Trump and the GOP candidate during the general election. It doesn't matter if Trump is even a serious contender. The vast majority of the votes he'd pull will come from the conservative side of the house, aka GOP. If he even gets 5% of the total vote, he steals enough to make it numerically impossible for the GOP to win without converting an equal number of dems.

Honestly, I'd rather see Trump or Fiorina as the candidate, but I really don't think either of them can win the nomination. I'm a bit tired of career politicians and people that walk the fence between dem and GOP.

I just watched an hour with Carly Fiorina tonight on Hannity and she is damned impressive. She needs to be able to stay in the fight to knee-cap some of these other wimps.

Full disclosur: My wife just retired from HP. But, HP bought EDS, my wife's former employer, after CF left. Hmmm, HP, EDS...I sense a pattern here.

And in 3rd place: Other

It is viable to ask that "Other" be changed to

"Not suitably impressed with the Others"

I think it's to early to pick, but not to observe & listen..

Watched Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson speak yesterday at the Western Conservative Summit. Both were extremely effective speakers. And not just for tossing out chunks of red meat.

Ben Carson effectively repudiated his absurd 2d Amendment comments. But then again this is politics. A more political explanation was that he was walking back his misstatement...

Broken down politics contains two elements. Poly which means many and tics which is a blood sucking arachnid.

The only way to gauge a politicians actions is to look at their personal and political history of actions.

You know what I'll go with Trump.

Why?

Because he's an American and a hard working American success story. And the real reason, because he's NOT a politician.

I'm real sick of the career politicians right now.

Mr. Trump, you have my vote.

After his presidential announcement and unapologetic attitude towards the PC police pertaining to our borders, I've started taking a liking to him.

The only candidate to openly point out the cold hard truth about our border and he then gets scorned for it. He said it best, NBC cuts ties with him for speaking the truth but will continue to do business with a fraud like Brian Williams.

Some people just can't handle or are not used to a up front candidate like him anymore, we have become more accustomed to transparent beat around the bush types.

Corporations often control the tongue and actions of politicians. As we've clearly seen with Trump that's not the case, he owns them and doesn't give a s#!t that Macy's and NBC cut ties with him, he's still sticking to his guns even after everyone demands he apologize.

Trump will be a loadstone that drags the GOP closer to the abyss of political irrelevance. He can afford to be a loose cannon because he doesn't have to pay the consequences.

The GOP is dead.

They've not stood together and fought for the American people for over a decade. Nothing but self-serving career politicians.

And "most "politicians are wealthy enough to not have to worry about the consequences. Your argument is weak, join the dark side......

Mr. Trump is the non-PC "hammer" this country has needed for a long long time.

From Rules for Radicals:

Quote:
Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and chance the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. To bring on this reformation requires that the organizer work inside the system...
Infiltration anyone?

Donald Trump is doing this to get publicity, stroke his own ego, and make more money. I find him entertaining, but I also have seen how he does business first-hand, and I can tell you that he is not an honorable man.

Now you're going to lecture me on honor among politicians and Washington D.C.?

Seems Mr. Trump has all the required experience.

No, I'm telling you that Donald Trump is not an honorable man. I think he is no better than your average Beltway whore, just different in that he is seeking to make money from politics in a new way.
