If big cities get federal police forces and there is objection, some fringe group will just come up with a way to stir up more trouble.

Perhaps like:
Coordinated vandalism where they cut diesel hoses at truck stops around the periphery of the city with a simultaneous social media campaign warning sbout shortages of critical goods within those cities.

I'm sure it would be fun to try keeping the peace during the ensuing mess.

Liberal fascists fantasize about successfully herding cats.

The political genius of this is that the Republicans have been clamoring for Federal enforcement of immigration laws and crackdown on the sanctuary cities so the stupid Republicans can not object. The public opinion appears to be in favor of action too. The Progressives that might object can be appeased on this fairly easily too.

So what we have is liberal policy, rhetoric, and Administration inaction creating a situation (crisis) and a public uproar. OK, we'll just come in and settle the issue by "assisting" the local LE.

Classic Munchausen syndrome - create the problem (crisis) so you can be the hero with the solution.

That's not an overt federal takeover of the local LE, but it's a step in that direction. Think of the camel's nose parable. In fact to be successful the approach needs to be gradual. As I said - boiling frogs.

So, Paslode, you can add San Francisco to that list.

In Baltimore's case

State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby recently derailed an initiative to bring together city leaders, law enforcement commanders, academics, public health officials and others to identify real-time homicide trends and develop targeted responses — the latest crime-fighting program to falter amid a dramatic spike in violence.

Which helped set things up for the Feds to assist..

Many say Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon at very least dicked around deploying the NG which in turn increased the damage inflicted upon the residents of Ferguson......and regardless the BiG Brother known as the DOJ run by the Eric Holder put the Ferguson PD on Trial by Media.

Mayor Rhambo and Chief Goon Garry F. McCarthy just can't get a handle on Chitown's street violence.....which makes Chitown a good candidate for a Trojan Horse...I mean Knight in Shining Armor.

How about Brooklyn NY...run by leftist wacko Dem Bill DeBlasio....

Brooklyn residents said Sunday that they fear the return of the bad old days of “Crooklyn” — and placed the blame squarely on Mayor Bill de Blasio — after a bloody weekend in which at least 19 people were shot in the borough.

My guess is that these are the type of arrests we will increasingly see from this intermingling...

Amateur.......

All big cities have a few achilles heel, electricity is probably the first and foremost, interrupt that and 100% of democrat run large cities will destroy themselves from within.

The goal isn't destruction.
The goal is to undermine the legitimacy of certain authorities.

Fear will often band together sheeple, who then look for someone to save them.
Greed and envy don't necessarily have the same effect.

Just-in-time logistics result in lower expenses, from which many derive some profit or benefit.
When that system is disrupted, others step in to fill the gap, provided they can make a profit.

Some law enforcement resources would have to be used to deal with property crimes.
Quickly, many of these resources would be redirected in an attempt to control the newly created black market, which is a good way to lose influence over hearts and minds.

That's all the "war on drugs" really is: an attempt to control a black market.
Controlling untaxed cigarettes in NYC also comes to mind.

Political leaders would be stuck with a difficult problem.
The people like their bread and circuses.
