Full Military Honors

This is in remembrance of a Dear Friend Col. James Murphy. Jimmy was my best friends older brother. A former seminarian, who after 7 years of training and right before taking his vows, decided priesthood wasn’t his calling. He enlisted in the US Army, attended OCS, and Branched as an Artillery Officer. His 1st and 2nd tours iirc were 66-67, 68-69, on the ground with the 4th ID, his 3rd tour, 70-71 he flew Huey’s out of Da Nang. We met there after his young brother, a Silver Star recipient, took 7 rounds in an ambush and lived to tell the story. Jimmy was no slouch either, among his many meritorious Awards, there are three Bronze Stars with V's, and the Distinguished Flying Cross, LM etc. Humble by nature, only once did he tell a story about one of the BS, it seems the FB he was on was being, or was about to be overrun, so he level the 105’s and fired Flechette rounds at point blank range.
Jimmy met and Married the women of his dreams in RVN, Nancy and Jimmy had two sons, James Jr., served in the Marine Corps, while his younger brother Steve is a full Colonel, USMA Grad and currently the Garrison Commander of Fort Bliss.
Blue Skies Jimmy….
