Combat Related Amputees

PSA
All Vets with Combat related limb loss..

Just posted

Hey gentlemen, especially those of you missing a limb or know someone who is. The govt is proposing a change to the current laws giving combat-related amputees the right to choose a prosthetist outside of the VA system.

The VA be able to deny our request and make us use their prosthetic departments. This is a big problem because the VA is not good at making prosthetics.

I rely on my legs to work and function. You can imaging that prosthetics aren't all that comfortbale to begin with. Now imagine prosthetic legs made by a VA employee... Making a prosthetic is just as much art as it is science.

Anyway here is the info and where you can post an official comment on the proposed bill.

The bill closes for public input on the 15th.

Also, contact your congress people if you're so inclined.

Pass this message to anyone who may want to comment..

That's interesting. I wonder if the current process is going to change.

The VA in Tucson, AZ is worse than awful for prosthetics. I've been working with a Hanger Clinic in town for a year now trying to get things sorted.

The problem is that everything still has to go through the VA. Every foot, knee, sleeve, liner etc still has to be approved by the VA. Using prosthetic offices outside the VA gets you better products and more choices but makes it more difficult to get those parts approved.

I'll still go outside the VA for prosthetics though.
